The three I have in pockets on board today...

Re: Show your favorite Spydercos
I really like that Manix 2. The AWT scales look amazing on it. I recently aquired a 15v Para 3 lw and want to put new scales on it. The only problem is, the D nut for the clip is apparently stripped and spins with the screw. I just got off the phone with Spyderco and thats what they think it is anyway. They recommended that I send it in. I'm debating now whether to do that or just live with it. Arrrgh!!

Re: Show your favorite Spydercos
Have you tried lifting up on the clip really hard and while doing that try removing the screw?
Re: Show your favorite Spydercos
Yes, I tried that. Tried the soldering iron trick to see if I could loosen the loctite. I even tried taking out all the other screws and rotated the scales so I could put a little bit of torque on the barrel. I'm open to any suggestions.

That one is a real issue then. If we're mine, I have these lefthanded drill bits, I would get that knife locked in a vice and while really pulling hard on that thing, I would see if the speed in which the drill can try to reverse that screw out...
At this point I would be like it's a spare parts knife and I have nothing to loose anymore. I would order me another new knife to replace this one regardless if I got that screw out, or if I drilled the head off and start over that way.
A more reasonable approach would be to send it in, but I get tunnel vision and my OCD takes over lol...so I would get that darn screw out one way or the other.

Lol, I get the same way with the tunnel vision and determination to do things myself. Plus, $ is a little tight after squeezing in the purchase of this knife. If I can find out the size of the screw, I'm tempted to drill it out. Not too enthused about the idea of sending it in. Or maybe I just live with it the way it is.

Nice pic! I'm not much for SE myself, but I appreciate a good Spyderco.

I think Spydie knives are a bit like having a good car everyone appreciates, just a matter of personal taste in upholstery and colour ect. I never thought I'd leave black scales, but now I'm venturing into green, yellow and blue. And red too one day.
Also the coloured scales are an easy way to colour code the knives when you have for example several UKPKs with different steels in different colours. I can quickly pick a green scaled UKPK in LC200N for a rainy bike ride, as opposed to a black scaled in BD1N when I'm just out and about and staying dry.
Do I need this level of nerdship? Nope, but I love it

I wear my nerdship as a badge of honor. For me, it's trying and testing different steel.SpydieCollector wrote: ↑Sun Jul 27, 2025 1:24 amI think Spydie knives are a bit like having a good car everyone appreciates, just a matter of personal taste in upholstery and colour ect.
