Folder are restricted! No OTF's.
Re: New here , This maybe a stupid question but...
Automatic folder is available however, it may be restricted in your local area due to local laws… Spyderco makes the Autonomy 3 but as of yet they do not offer an OTF.
Whatever turns you on, cupcake.
Still plays with knives…

Depending on where you live if they are restricted. Yes Spyderco does make a few auto's. There is a section on this forum all about these, if you want to check that out.

Dear Maxvicious:
Automatic knives are legal in Colorado. To carry one, it must comply with legal blade-length requirements, which specify a maximum of 3.5 inches.
Please note that Spyderco restricts its direct sales of automatic knives and other knives we regard as restricted items to law enforcement and military personnel.
Stay safe,
Mike

I would definitely be interested. I think what Spyderco could bring to the OTF world that is sorely needed is better blade grind geometry and better slicing overall. Most OTF's are very short in blade height and so they can only have so low of a blade grind angle, so they tend to be door stops. Someone needs to make an OTF with a taller blade profile to allow for a lower blade grind angle, and in turn that would also mean a taller handle and could also be more ergonomic than the majority of the blocky square designs out there.

Just to make sure the OP's question gets answered, Spyderco makes the Autonomy 2 automatic folder, which is a top-notch knife. It comes in plain edge or fully serrated versions, in H1/H2 steel, which doesn't rust. Its blade is exactly 3.5 inches long which, as Mike said, is the maximum Colorado allows.
I agree with David that Spyderco should make an OTF, for the reasons he states. Unfortunately, they don't as of yet.

Re: New here , This maybe a stupid question but...
Yes, Spyderco makes a knife called the Autonomy, and it comes in a variety of configurations. There are dozens of great knife stores online. Buy one there, and have it shipped to your door.Maxvicious wrote: ↑Sun Mar 23, 2025 9:59 amDoes Spyderco offer or will they offer a automatic folding model , and a OTF someday ??

I'm new too. In fact, this is my first post...
So, Spyderco knives are well known for quality and materials ranging from budget friendly to super high end. But to me, whatever the model, it's all about the Spydie Hole. And of course, the satisfying click when the blade flies out. It's more reliable than thumb studs. And it never blocks the cutting path or the stone of a fixed angle sharpener. I think Spyderco is doing just fine with deployment. Making an OTF seems...I don't know. I can't say, "pointless." Most models are known for having sharp, pokey, stabby points too. Most inventions go through an evolution and keep improving over time. Leonardo Da Vinci invented the chain and sprocket used on countless bikes and other applications still in use today. The general design has never been improved. A thousand years from now, Sal's Spydie hole deployment will not be improved. If I buy a Spyderco, I want a hole to flick. (I know how bad that sounds) I guess they could leave a cutout on the show side and let us flick the blade out the front? Sounds hideous.

An otf with the spydiehole on the side, so that you can manually flick the blade open. I'd like that actuallyRdKill wrote: ↑Tue Nov 11, 2025 11:08 pmI'm new too. In fact, this is my first post...
