Lately I started watching (for the first time) the Lost series. I noticed a funny/weird thing - one of the main characters, John Locke, started off carrying a Spyderco Harpy but after a couple episodes switched to some generic steel knife of similar shape. Was there some kind of licensing problem or something?

More likely they simply Lost the knife and didn't have a backup. It was probably just clipped on to that jacket and could have fallen off during filming or storage.

I would say it was stolen as props get “lost” so easily on sets. Scroll on youtube and you see actors and actresses talking all about how many props they took home without concent. Chris Hemsworth for example has more then 5 hamers from the first 3 Thor movies alone…

in a roll or case.

Yeah, he had a whole case, but those were fixed blades. And they looked for a similar blade regarding the vest folder, they just didn't bother with finding another harpy

The stainless steel version was out of production for three years before the show even premiered, so perhaps it was difficult to replace. Also, TV shows back then did not have the prestige they do today, so they probably didn't care about getting everything perfect.

I’ve only finished the 2 first episodes, where it made an appearance in the second episode. Parts of this scene is also in the intro, so as a bonus you get to see a Spyderco every time you start a new episode.







I’m not 100% sure what model it is, but I’m picking up some strong Caly vibes, and with Simon being a Brit, I lean towards a UKPK.

then released with time served

I've mentioned this case (and the Endura) in my martial arts thread in the off-topic forum. My older brother and Dusty Harless had actually been acquaintances; my brother had worked at and had been a manager of a popular shop in Ocean Beach for decades; because of that, a LOT of people in the area knew my brother.

This is a great list, but you only have one episode listed for the 2007-2008 show Life and the Spyderco Police easily appeared in over half the show's episodes.
