Spyderco Sharpener Necklace
Re: Spyderco Sharpener Necklace
I agree with @RustyIron on this one...don't like things around my neck. I'd rather carry a steel that will hold an edge longer, or just a whole second knife, and not need to sharpen until I got back home.

The abrasive ceramic rods held in a base at a specific angle was patented by Louis N. Graves back in the mid-70's. He manufactured a product called a "Crock Stick" that you would instantly recognize as the predecessor to the Sharpmaker.
I got a Crock Stick back in 1984 or 1985. Below is a picture that I grabbed off the interwebs. The four rods were cylindrical, two coarse, two fine. The rods were held in the bottom of the base in spring-loaded detents. The rods could be inserted into the base at two different angles.
Some of Graves' patents were transferred to Lansky in 1992.
The SpydieWiki shows that in the Spyderco offered a "Crock Stick" sharpener as far back as the 1970's. The picture in the article shows a font clearly recognizable as the Graves Crock Stick font.

That's not the one I'm talking about, Spyderco made basically that same sharpener I posted the pic of, was called the Fold-A-Vee, it's hard to even find pics of.

Lansky make a Spyder sharpener which is a 600 grit ceramic. It’s approx.3” long and has a triangular profile with two corners that are more rounded in profile, presumably for dressing the wider serrations? It’s got plastic caps and can be attached to a key chain. I keep one in my work bag.
