Stumbled across this JD at a local gun shop, excellent condition, $100 bill out the door, absolutely hated it! I traded it the very next week at a gun show to a vendor I’ve dealt with many times for a Gayle Bradley 1, couldn’t wait to get rid of it! But, it is a good looking knife!

Can you describe the quirks? I love the OG seki backlocks, but they have their issues, no doubt.
I've been curious about this model for a long time.
how smooth/stiff is the action? Older pinned sekis could be kinda stiff and can't be adjusted.
Anything else odd about balance, weight, hole size, opening arc size, slick scale finish, etc?
Tip down only is an annoyance on the v1's. Lack of SE is an annoyance on the v2's. Really I'd like a v2 handle with v1 SE blade.
Anything else that makes it stand apart from other seki backlocks?
Sorry so long to get back to you.... So quirks? Maybe not so much quirks, it was probably more me than what I'd call quirks! I'm terrible for not giving a knife a chance after it's first impression or two. I saw it in a local to me gun store, had never seen or even held one before and quickly traded that $100 bill for it! That beautiful polished Micarta won me over in the store!
First off, I don't have huge hands, more what I'd call medium meaty, thick hands, this knife was just too thin for me, and again that's on me, that's the way this knife was designed. It's one more sticker, it had a serious needle thin tip!
But the killer for me was the Ricasso, just don't understand the design behind this one? Ricasso? Choil? Both in one? I feel a good opportunity was missed using a proper choil, or bringing the edge down more closer the the handle, there's already a good finger guard made into the handle.
I will say, it's one good looking knife, and the Micarta on mine just stood out, it was beautiful. It just overall didn't feel right....to me, that's all I've got.
And the fact that I only had $100 in that practically brand new GB1 I traded for didn't hurt either!
