Has anyone ever tried using a Tulip fabric paint on knife scales? I didn't find any first-hand accounts online from people who'd used Tulip products on G10 or FRN, but the spray paint in particular seemed like it MIGHT work:

Or maybe not. Feel free to speculate on the feasibility.
Coloring scales with Tulip fabric paint
Re: Coloring scales with Tulip fabric paint
I have not used it on knife scales, but I'm kinda inclined to believe it would probably be a result similar to RIT dying G10/FRN. I think I'd probably stick to RIT as I'd personally be a little concerned with the paint building up in screw holes and so on and causing problems with the action and assembly/disassembly.
I would be interested to see results if you do try it, though!

Re: Coloring scales with Tulip fabric paint
My thoughts exactly about the holes for the hardware. I'm sure the paint could be sanded, but that might mess up the whole look. Rather than using the paint to completely coat the scales, its best use might be to stencil a design or add second a contrasting color, in which case the holes could just be avoided all together. And maybe a different product like the fabric markers would work better for something like that than the spray paint. Probably time to quit speculatin', buy some pieces of G10, and give it a try.

If it'll dye nylon then it'll probably dye FRN. There are a few brands of dye out there that are way higher quality than Rit, but I think you may not see a difference since the dye is only going to penetrate so deep. Other brands may offer more color options though.
