Got my AWT scale in for my Manix 2 Salt in MagnaCut. These scale I got in burnt bronze, really like this color on all sorts of things.

These scale are no exception either, they look great. Fit perfect on the light weight Manix 2. With these being out of aluminum you get the leave some of the small parts off the knife also...

Thanks guys...

V,

I have noticed the same thing in your preferences of knives and there colors for that matter. The older I get the more picky I am getting also lol.

I have gotten to where I would rather pay more for something better, something I don't wonder about, if that makes any sense.

That wondering about how long it's going to last before failure or a break down, is something that really doesn't work for me anymore if there is a clear way around it...

My wife asked for a rock for her Valentines day gift a few years ago now, coarse being all girly and works in banking for over 30 years now; she was wanting one for her finger!

You know a diamond ring kind of rock, not that she doesn't already have those, she has more of them than I do pocket Knives lol.

Me being who I am and more importantly to this story, what sort a husband and life long best friends we are, I thought for a long time and looked even longer before buying this rock...

Instead of Six karat diamond ring, I just thought a 6000 pound landscape rock would really make the perfect gesture. Needless to say it was a huge success and we still laugh about it.

You have to realize there are no natural rocks in this part of Texas, we haul all the rocks in here. This is a huge farming area.

So just getting this big rock here was a major to do, then getting it off the trailer and set just so, so; was another challenge. This rock put one pretty big loader right on the ground nose first.

So they brought out an even bigger forklift, had the road out in front of the house all blocked off, it was hilarious...

Been planting stuff around this big freak'n rock for years now, had a really well established theme going and then the fireants decided to take up residence last year while I was busy in the hospital dying literally...

Finally realized that this hospital was letting me die, we changed my doctor's and a new hospital and amazingly with their help, God and all his angles I am alive and doing pretty good considering.

So, this morning been out there around the rock, making sure no fireants and doing a little weeding around things with my trusty Mule here. My M398 Mule on the big Valentines day rock.

All little knives today, least so far lol. It has been hard not having a Police4 in my right back pocket too... These three here are like a Razor, where my Police4 needs a hone and will receive this afternoon...

Thanks Mid. I just responded to a post of yours about how you mentioned you can't single hand operate your knives.

I single hand open and close all mine with the exception of the knives with the thumbnail notch in the blade.

Yeah, saw that and responded to you over there. Probably I wasn't specific enough. I meant with a liner lock, my thumb is right there. Otherwise, you (maybe not you) have to move your hand quite a bit to press a back lock hard enough and if you (maybe not you) try to do it one handed you have to juggle the knife more than I would like. Same thing for the compression lock, it's just awkwards as ****. Got my first liner lock in the 1980s and never wanted any other kind of lock since then. So sad to see that all the new steels are coming to the M2 instead of the OG Military.

Please do, would love to see them, all rock is brought into here, all of mine were brought in here from central Texas most of which I did all by myself, with the exception of this bigger one.

I am rather fond of that old torched by lightning Cedar tree I have leaning on that rock, funny story behind it too, almost got myself in trouble over it...

I carried that old Cedar a good three miles around this rocky ledge where it was hit by lightning a few years back. I had seen this old tree while out hunting years earlier for Aoudad sheep. Just no way to drive back in there.

So one special day the wife and I drove up there just for something fun to do and let her get away, I thought how cool it would be to go back in there and get that old Cedar tree trunk and bring it home.

While she was taking a nap, I just thought I would hike back there and really size this possibility up. I knew this old tree was all still there and that it was bigger than the back of my truck, just was not sure if I could first break it off completely free from the ground and just how heavy it was going to be.

The one thing I did forget was my cell phone, so the wife had no idea where I was, not good; ended up being really not good lol.

It took me a lot longer to carry that Cedar trunk without breaking any of it through all the brush, trees and around the rocks all the time watching for the huge Coontail rattle bugs that thrive there... yes did this in the hot summer time.

My wife and other campers had just knew I had fell off in this deep old canyon. Three hours go by and no sign of me, so she panics and called the Sheriff's office and them and DPS all show up with ambulance.

Coarse I had to do this in the heat of the summer too, we wouldn't want to tote this trunk out when it's nice and cool or even cold, besides the obvious the Coontail rattle bugs aren't out then either.

All the first responders were waiting for a helicopter to become available before they started the search. The game warden was more worried about snake bite and especially when he heard I was in shorts...

This was about as bad of anything I could of done at this point for sure. I finally walked out into a small clearing and an 8 year old boy saw me first and think goodness he went and told his mother.

They called off the helicopter and when I did finally get up there with my Cedar trunk on one shoulder everyone knew why I was gone for so long...

They asked me why I didn't take my cell phone, and lucky for me, it was dead and charging in my truck. They actually went to confirm that it was in fact in the truck and being charged lol.

They told me I was getting to old to just wonder off like that in places like this. People slip and fall off the rim of this old canyon every year. One ambulance tech asked me "aren't you afraid of the Coontail's"...

I told all of them I am no boy scout when it comes to snakes and if I had come up on one it would have to die or leave, it's choice lol... The snakes are bad up and around the rim of the old canyon, most people don't go there either for that reason.

They asked me how far I had carried that Cedar trunk and when I showed them on the map they couldn't believe it, except there I was with it and I offered to take them where I had to break it loose from the rocks and ground around it.

I donated 500 bucks to the first responders slush fund for all the trouble I had caused. Felt like the right thing to do after all. Just since then I don't go off like that without cell phone. Like had the hardest time trying to get the Cedar trunk in the bed of my truck though.

No matter how I turned it, it was way bigger than the bed of my truck. And after all that, it was certainly coming home with me. Another good reason of me trying to put a new floor in my trailer. I like to go and bring back rocks and stumps...

I don't have a way to load it or a trailer to carry it right now. I got the floor out of my big trailer, trying to decide on what kind of floor to put in it. To go back with rough 3" X 10" Oak, or to cut from wood all together and put in a steel floor. I can do either and there are pros and cons on both of these...

Nice combination for todays edc. I also still have my Manix 2 that is going on its third week in my front right pocket. A first for me, just don't usually edc that small of knife in my front right pocket more than a day at best.

These two in the pic are awesome knives and quite different in how well they work. The M4 is very impressive, sure would like to get this setup in some MagnaMax steel...

Made a new lanyard for a new style knife I have incoming. I flame colored the Titanium spyder and the Spartan helmet after buffing them first.

There was really bad storms here last night, high wind and one inch hail covered the ground. I got trees down and limbs everywhere from what i could see in the dark last night. Today maybe interesting with the cleanup.

Here is a couple pix of my new style lanyard.

That was my second snake, it got really aggressive and struck at me twice before I finally got it. The first one I saw a week before, it got away so I know it's still here close by. Not a big fan of snakes.

I have never really been over in the off topic section, I will have to check it out. Thanks for the compliment on the lanyard.

#41 - Clip Modification

I took the oem spoon clip and stacked a cut-off deep carry clip to put a dedicated lanyard hole in these new AWT scales that eliminated the lanyard hole all together. More on these scales later...

Was going to do this mod first on the Yojumbo of mine, but decided to do this first to my Manix 2XL with these AWT scales, since this knife will see more pocket time.

This mod works better than simply wrapping the lanyard loop around the oem clip as it just slides up and down the clip without this double stacked clip setup...

Manix 2XL with DLC-M4 steel and AWT scales. These for the Manix 2XL have no lanyard hole and they are currently only available in the original finished texture which is almost smooth. Pix will show this.

They hope to soon be able to offer the aggressive texture which they offer both on the Manix 2-LW. I much prefer the aggressive texture that you will see in the pix on my Manix2XL and be able to compare the two different finishes. There is a big difference.

I will change these on my Manix 2XL out for the aggressive texture soon as they are available, but these will work till then.

These last two pix you can see the difference in the texture...
