Rumors about the Bumblebee PM2

#1

Post by LAASF »

Hey guys,

I've been eagerly waiting for the Bumblebee version of the PM2 to drop, especially now that summer has arrived. Initially, I thought the delay might be due to the complexity of crafting the layered G10 pattern. However, it seems like the real reason is that Big Brown Bear (BBB) is collaborating directly with Spyderco on the heat treatment of the satin salt PM2.

For those who might not know, DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) coating is a "hot coating" process. This can potentially influence the achievable hardness (HRC) of the steel.

I got this exciting update from Rollshambo on YouTube:
> "The satin MagnaCut PM2 is directly being worked on by Big Brown Bear at Spyderco, specifically to be harder than the FRN and DLC PM2."

All I can say is that I'm hyped and my wallet is ready. I'm super excited and hope I can snag one on release day.

If true, I'm glad I preordered the correct (yellow/black) version back in the fall :squinting-tongue

Maybe I need one of these? :thinking

Where is this preorder you speak of? Anyone have a link, I'd like to take a look at this knife?

I preordered from BladeHQ back in November. I don’t know if anyone is still taking a preorder. Good luck 👍

Now that these are showing up is there any confirmation to a change in the HT on the satin blades?:

The paramilitary 2 , ribbed for your pleasure

I really like the handle scales upgrade. It’s like the inverse of the Caribbean scales(swapped black and yellow pattern) but far grippier.
Just one more knife...

I did ask while I was at the SFO about this rumor, and it sounded like it was news to them; they hadn’t heard anything about that.

So unless we get confirmation from Sal or Shawn, I wouldn’t put stock into it. Just look at it as a good knife.

I talked to Eric at the Oregon show about the black and yellow para 3. He said that it was likely a few weeks out and that the slowdown was because of the scales.
