Are there any fast food type meals any of you would recommend that can be both healthy and safe as well as convenient and reasonably inexpensive or is the vary notion of fast food going to be somerhing bad?
IF I eat fast food and it’s almost never, it’s a Taco Bell power bowl. Steak or chicken, cheese, beans, guac sour cream and lettuce/tomato. A great hack is hitting up a quality BBQ joint and getting a sandwich with coleslaw as the side. We have Jim N Nicks BBQ all over Birmingham AL and they have a drive through. Sandwich with smoked turkey and side of coleslaw and unsweet tea for me is $10 ish bucks and healthy. Pro tip- dump the coleslaw on the sandwich, trust me on this

One other hack in a pinch, Wendy’s large chili with a baked potato. Dump the chili on the potato and get down

$10ish bucks? Sounds fantastic for the money.

Prices are ridiculous. I think for $14+ I can get 2McDonald's Cheeseburgers, fries, and a medium shake. I never thought that I'd be saying it but McDonald's pricing is outrageous.

We've all but stopped eating fast food entirely, it's all over priced and under quality for what you pay for. We do eat out though but at more standard restaurants that aren't fast food. The one exception is Penn Station.

They took it off the menu but you can still order the double decker. Three buns, brisket on half, pulled pork on the other half, drenched in their BBQ sauce. Hits the spot every time.

Wish they put mashed potatoes back on the menu. They're only of the only restaurants around that made them right.

Stay away from the biscuits if you're trying to eat healthy. They contain a lot more sugar than you'd think.

Well. I guess that my body cannot handle McDonald's food anymore.

I've had Fries, a Quarter Pounder and Chocolate Shake at 3 different McDonald's and each time I upchuck it within a minute or so. I'm done with it.

Whatever they are doing to the food, I can no longer process it.

I ate some of the fries, and something was amiss. Not hickups. Not belching. My body was trying to get rid of whatever I had just eaten, but I did not put 2 and 2 together and started to eat the burger. Boom....like poison.

I just finished the shake, so I don't think it's that. It may be the fries.

I would quit them.

Try Arby's, not really fast food, not really, at least it's not bad for you and better than McDonalds.

Oh for sure, I'm done with McD's.

I mostly cook at home. I do enjoy Thai, Korean, and Chinese takeout as well as pizzas but only eat out a few times per month.

I love Chinese/Japanese/Thai food.

I don't order pizzas, not worth it, I just get the good ones at the Grocery store when they are on sale.

I do like Wings though, my Grocery Store has a wing bar.

There is a pizzaria that we have been customers of for 40 years not far from the house. They make fresh uncooked pizzas, and you can take them home and freeze them or just place them in the fridge. Because I do not eat a lot and I am alone, I order 5 to 7 of them and eat them over the month.

They are not bad. Nothing is perfect. Well my French Press coffee isn't too bad, and I take mine black.

Yeah you got me there Arby's is pretty ok too but they're also practically not fast food depending on what you buy, they're more of a deli restaurant. Chinese is also a guilty favorite.

I tried a US McDonalds once. It was even worse than the U.K. and European versions.

You can’t beat good fish’n’chips as a takeaway. Fish, batter (you don’t have to eat it, the fish effectively steams inside) and potatoes. That’s it. Fat chips are way less fatty than skinny fries, and no weird coatings.

I looove pizza but make it on my gas grill using 12” diameter x 1” steel pans. The dough is just flour, salt, olive oil water yeast, and a little time. It’s more like topped focaccia, tbh, but is delicious and has nothing unpleasant in it.

I'm gonna sound like a stereotypical "back in my day" guy but McDonald's did used to be pretty good, back in the '90s I ate so many Arch Deluxe's I never could have counted them, I was surprised that burger flopped off the menu.

One that gets me lately is Taco Bell, it's just so bland and manufactured tasting, and the last time we ate there it was around $45 for 3 people and we all agreed they have absolutely nothing that is worth eating over one of the very excellent local Mexican restaurants for around the same price. Chipotle is just about on this same category too for the exact same reasons and their queso isn't even close to being as good.

The one fast food I'll still go hard on if I'm not on a diet is White Castle which might be the worst of all of them but they're so deeply engrained in my DNA I will always love those little fart burgers 🤣

McDonalds was awesome back in the 70's and 80's.
