Though I do wonder, I had some burlap micarta scales on my Smock and they were actually pretty slick. I feel like that's been a complaint on the CF scales of the Kapara over the years too. Interested to see/hear how these turn out. Will be a nice looking knife for sure...but I'm thinking $300+

If I remember correctly the similar Shaman was $299, so we might be a little bit under the $300 mark, hopefully.

This was our issue as well, when we tried one. Was the only knife out of dozens that we accidentally dropped when checking it out at the SFO.

Maybe this is a step in the right direction, though. Is it possible to texture micarta? Beautiful looking knife. A mid-size, 3/4 length Kapara would be even better!

This is a CPM 20cv exclusive that has the burlap micarta scales I put on. It is not very slick compared to the carbon fiber. :bug-red-white :usflag

Can't speak to burlap in particular but polished canvas micarta can be roughed up with low-grit sandpaper to give better grip.

Not necessarily recommending anyone do this to a $200+ Spyderco but I've done it to a polished canvas BRKT before to pretty good effect, I think with either 80 or 120 grit.

That burlap micarta looks so nice, I can't wait to see this one in peoples hands (and photos)
Hey Ali,

I carried the first article for a few days. It's really a winner. Ask Alex or Wendy to grab one for you when they get through QC. It's been in-the-works for a while, but it was worth the wait. A classic. I'm guessing Knife-Center will follow up with more variations.

I saw the production sample when we were at HQ last year. Back then, I was hoping it made it to production. Fingers crossed it goes well for them and it prompts a few more exclusives. I have seen the collection Dan OzSpyder has made up to look like all the exclusives possible from the different dealers, and some really nice ones could be done.

Awesome knife, but absolutely a no go to import.
Still waiting on the standard production slipjoint.... Might be easier to buy an original custom though... Anybody know if Alistair still makes those?
I haven't made one in quite a while. My main focus has been wrapping my head around making knives on my CNC. I am knocking a few out now on it, but still would like to improve my processes so I am not needing to do so much to the parts before I can even test assemble a knife.

This format looks great. Love S90V, haven't tried burlap micarta yet, but I may have to. That's a very reasonable price imo, cheaper than their regular Kapara currently.
Spydie list: PM2, PM3, Sage1, Sage5, Phoenix, Chaparral, Tasman Salt, Dragonfly2, Delica4, Endura4, GB2, Janisong, Smallfly2, Spydiechef, Watu, Urban, Caly3.5, Temperance, many more that I need to add

This knife is great minus the micarta for me. I still want a S90V/CF version. TSA has my OG Kapara, and have been looking for another.

If I grabbed one of these would there be anyone that would trade scales with me with a CQI model. I don’t even care if they are used because I abuse all my knives!

Tempted, but it's one of those knives I love on paper but not in hand. Great price compared to the S30v MAP.

Same here, looks great with nice materials. I just think it's going to be slick, those scales look slick in those photos...plus from my own experience with that kind of micarta. Hopefully everyone isn't a flicky ninja with this knife, because I can see it getting dropped often!

Yeah, clunky web site. When I finally go through to the checkout, it wouldn’t accept payment. :zany Oh well, saved me $255.
Still, I hope others enjoy the knife.

Still showing availability so they aren't flying off the shelf. I still may pick one up as I've always liked the design
