That is what some knife sellers would describe as “brand new in its original box” or the old favourite: “still has the factory edge”

I would guess that poor knife has seen a table grinder or two.

I wouldn't accept it if you tried to give it to me.
If you were tricky and left it on my workbench and then ran away, I'd just throw it in the trash.

Used, not abused, comes with factory box!

Sad to see, but a lot of knives get sharpened that way. I've seen so many "sharpened" on bench grinders...

Or, you could argue that it served its purpose as a cutting tool. It did not lie useless in a box...
$100. Funny guy!

This^. To paraphrase the old quote from Bladeforums “would you rather your wife’s next husband receive a box of knives covered in squirrel blood and biscuit gravy or a case of pristine knives, if you met an untimely demise?”Brock O Lee wrote: ↑Mon Apr 28, 2025 4:43 amOr, you could argue that it served its purpose as a cutting tool. Oh, the humanity! I see knives like this on EBAY sometimes and they have high prices listed and I feel like the seller should be paying someone to take it off their hands. I had a Buck knife that I used when I was working as a Diver and I abused the crap out of it for over 20 years, sharpening it on concrete sometimes and it looks better than that.

I’m surprised they didn’t advertise that it has the original clip with the US Patent number on it. That would have been a huge selling point with collectors in my estimation.
Re: What did this poor Jess Horn do to deserve this??
On the bright side of things, at least it actually got used! Probably has some interesting stories behind it, from a novice sharpener!
