So, the GB2 would have my vote, except, on my piece the detent was so weak, that the knife would open if looked at sideways. This was before I was comfortable with fiddling with such things. So I offloaded it. Everything else about it was excellent.
While not a tool steel, I could also strongly recommend the Kapara in the same general size as the GB2. While it could qualify as a gentle-persons knife, it is up to hard use, and no sharp edges (other than the blade) for those that noted it on the GB2.

Where did you get the scales? I love making my own but it is not easy on a folder, have one screw hole off 1/32" can mess stuff up. Over sand just a bit and it can mess stuff up.RadioactiveSpyder wrote: ↑Mon Apr 21, 2025 9:19 pmI’m no Nick Shabazz, but here are my Micarta GB1 and GB2s. Both Bradley models are highly recommended over the Para 3 IMHO, but the Para 3 is a great choice too. Can’t really go wrong with either and hopefully someday you’ll be able to try the one you don’t choose now. Cheers, Radioactive

Hi there, the first two Micarta scales with bolsters were made by Steve Ketchen, a scale maker in Massachusetts that’s not in business anymore since running off with a bunch of customers’ knives, myself included (law enforcement was even involved to no avail). The single color GB2 on the right is OD green Micarta from Sharp Dressed Knives, who is still in business and offers some really nice scales for a few Spyderco models.WilliamMunny wrote: ↑Tue Apr 22, 2025 12:33 pmWhere did you get the scales? Sucks to hear that too bad they never caught the guy. I love the scales on your GB1, makes me want to try to copy them. Hardest part is getting the scales thin. Not to mention keeping some texture in them as I made nice wood ones for my GB2 but did not like how slick they were.RadioactiveSpyder wrote: ↑Wed Apr 23, 2025 2:22 pmHi there, the first two Micarta scales with bolsters were made by Steve Ketchen, a scale maker in Massachusetts that’s not in business anymore since running off with a bunch of customers’ knives, myself included (law enforcement was even involved to no avail). Yes , GB2 .
It's a super knife, thinly ground "hollow " grind cuts like lightning. I just love M4, holds up great to hard cutting. You would not think a large knife would not slice like this.
Action is smooth and easy, locks up solid, easy to unlock (AFTER I TOOK OUT A LITTLE OF THE HANDLE TO BETTER ACCESS LOCK LUG)
A larger person than me would not find it a little large to carry.
GLAD I GOT THIS KNIFE
