If you could choose one new Spyderco to be released in K390, which would it be?

Hey all!

K390 has become one of my favorite steels. Great edge strength and retention, decent toughness, and takes a lovely patina. I would eventually love to see most/all Spyderco models in this fabulous steel.

If you could choose, which 'next knife' would you like to see get the 'K390' treatment?

Two caveats, if you will -

1. When I say 'K390', I'm referring to the 'Seki City' k390 and all of its properties that we know and love, and...
2. I intentionally left off the PM2 and Para 3, since they are currently available in k390, albeit not Seki k390

I know that this may be a tall order, since K390 tends to be more of a 'Seki only' steel thus far, but since we've seen S30V head over there, why not get some of that awesome k390 over here?

If your knife choice isn't on the list, feel free to add it in your comments!

Personally, I can't decide between the Bodacious and the Manix 2. Both would be insane in K390!

It's not on here, but my pick would be the Native Chief. Some of these are getting the 15V treatment which is a good enough alternative for me, but the Chief isn't getting that treatment for some reason.

Manix or Bodacious for me. Wish one of the big companies would do an exclusive in K390 considering how much people love the steel.

I realize that the Native Chief and the Manix 2 XL were not able to fit on the list, but I suppose that with the choice of either the Native 5 or the Manix 2, perhaps another K390 version in their big brothers wouldn't be far off.

Out of your list:

Chaparral.

Seems to gain popularity lately, but is still underrated imo, especially in its capacities outside the (just) "gents knife" niche.
It's really also a little hard-work-horse, K390 would fit that role and help bringingthe Chap in more peoples hands.
Also be great for that thin, slicey blade.

Second choice:
Manix, if we're talking LW.
Top three going by pocket-time (update April 25):
- EDC: Endela SE (K390). Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10), Chaparral SE (CTS XHP)
- Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 2 SE (LC200N), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), Endela SE (K390)

I would choose the greatest Spyderco knife of all time - the PPT Perrin! K390 blade with navy blue corrugated g10. 👌

Voted Manix 2; of the others on the list would also be interested in the Bodacious or Sage 5.

Not on the list, a tool steel UKPK would be cool. (K390 or 15V top choices but would still get excited for REX45, Cruwear, M4.)

I feel like a 15v UKPK is only a matter of time.

I voted Manix btw.

I appreciate everyone's input so far.

I haven't voted myself yet, but my gut is telling me that if given the option, the next knife w/ K390 should be something that hasn't yet had a lot of options for different knife steels. The two that jump out at me are the Bodacious and the Chaparral. I also think a K390 Smock would be incredible, and I don't even favor the Smock lol.

Thanks for your thoughts and let's keep the discussion going!

I went with the Kapara just because I like the design in theory but don't vibe with the available steels yet. K390 on the other hand... :star-struck

That would be great, I do prefer the GB2 a bit more but would be great to have a hollow ground K390 blade.

From the list the Manix 2!

I didn't vote and only because of the rusting issues I have had with the K390 steel. That and I prefer the larger knives like the Manix 2XL.

That said take the Manix 2XL and DLC the K390 steel and I think you would have a real serious keeper in your hand right there.

No more folders in prone to corrosion steels for me. I would go with a fixie, maybe the drop point Moran.

I voted for the Bodacious, with the caveat that I want SE with that DLC coating (edit: or better yet, Spyderco's upcoming proprietary coating, which I'm irrationally excited about!).
