I see how this would help draw your knife from your pocket. I like my lanyards though, I have them on all my knives, and I have had them since I was a kid making them from leather boot laces back then...

Make all from paracord now days. The paracord is easier to tie than the leather boot lace, and will last longer.

Lanyards are like tactical flair😂A monkey fist on the end of a lanyard is a beautiful thing. Also weaving in 1/2” nuts 🔩 I’m not a lawyer but that could be a felony if you squint your eyes.

This one adds to the grip on the Mcbee

Here is a pic of a 1/2" stainless steel ball in a monkey fist I made with two color paracord and a little leather boot lace on a very inexpensive Sog that I have had for about 10 years now.

I took the knife in trade from a guys years ago lol. Best thing about this knife jimo is the lanyard. It's assisted opening and has a lock on it, nice enough knife, it's just such a short blade, I want carry them this size.

The monkey fist lanyard after attaching to the little knife did carry for a few weeks lol. The knife has a deep carry clip and not much knife to grab with thumb and index finger when in the pocket.

It had to have a lanyard. But then I put them on all my knifes lol.

More traditional use, not on the clip, 16" cord and lanyard knot (PM2-S90V):

Awesome! This was just a thought for some who don’t have a lanyard hole or want one in a different position. I would also explore using the sheath of the paracord only or a smaller diameter cordage. Thanks for the follow up.

I forgot the manufacturer but it’s a titanium pokey attitude adjuster in the fist. I’ll see if I can find it. It’s quite a powerful self defense tool in a small package but it also doubles as a grip for my Mcbee. Image

Thanks for the link. Same idea but mine is solid. The one you posted can be used as a “pill bottle” which is kind of useful.

On a short knife the “bead” can give you great grip as well as a non lethal pain tool but a punch to the skull would be something else. It’s quite the compact self defense tool.

Oh, while I am on the subject, put a hard ceramic bead on your lanyard just in case you need to break a car window. That’s a nice way to spice up your lanyard game. A shock cord with a ceramic bead can make a nice tactical bracelet or a hair tie for your man bun.

That would be a skull cracker if I had to use it. One would need to be very careful with that item on the end of a lanyard and used as such.

Would not be just a fist fight anymore when using that sort of thing. You might want to have your CC license with that item lol.

I guess I don't understand that well.

You create the problem of making it difficult to get out of your pocket by putting a low ride clip on the knife, then you solve the problem you created by putting a lanyard on it?

I understand that some people think they like low ride clips even with the expense that it makes the knife less useable.

The PPT is one of the only Spyderco knives I know of with a low ride clip. (Actually the Caly series also come with it.) I think the PPT does come with a lanyard and I think the PPT also has some knurling on the clip to help you get it out of your pocket.

I carry inside waistband so the deeper the carry, the better. In that sense, the lanyard makes it easy to deploy. The lanyard if skinny enough does not interfere with it riding deep.
