I don't doubt Spyderco, they wouldn't be doing this otherwise. But can you elaborate on those legal changes? A quick google search of 'can you import balisongs to the US' didn't bring up anything relevant that I could find. Should for some reason one of us get jammed up for having a Balisong stamped Taiwan, it would be useful to be able to point to the relevant law.Michael Janich wrote: ↑Thu Jan 30, 2025 6:51 amDear Buddafucco:
Yes. Due to some changes in the legal landscape, the JaniSong will now be sold in the U.S.
Stay safe,
Mike

Same. Legal to own, but not carry, like my Autos. An expensive fidget spinner for around the house. But a cool design I couldn't pass on.Infinite Zero wrote: ↑Thu Mar 27, 2025 12:48 pmI grabbed one at National. My last balisong experience was with a Smallfly 1 back in the day. I ended up selling it after it bit me a few times. The Janisong has long fascinated me with its promise of being a safer balisong.
While it’s legal in my state to carry, I expect it to be more of an “around the house” knife, probably to the annoyance of my wife.![]()

And from a use stand point it's interesting to note that the blade closes spine first. So you'd never have it close on you during hard use (unless the handle and a few other things broke), that's a plus for me. I also like the neutral handle, spear tip blade shape. Good in any position. A nice knife, no complaints, and fun to play with. Well designed Mike.
They are out of stock there right now, but National Knives is about $25 less than everywhere else if you create an account with them/sign in if you have an account. They also ship with a microfiber towel rather than bubble wrap, which is a nice bonus.

It really feels like a balisong with training wheels
It's a fun design. Not sure if I'll ever use this one though. I like the action though, very clever design.
