Hope this thing will get a "toothy" variant...
Hope no longer my friend. It was announced with a serrated version for the Satin and DLC Blade. I was actually trying to wait for the serrated to come out for my first one, but there was a heavily discounted one in Plain Edge and I just couldn't wait any more.

Image

:grin-big eyes Thanks!!

I actually only looked at the Spyderco site/catalogue, and there no SE version is listed (yet...)
They list it, but I could not find any pictures on the website. I really wanted the standard version in Serrated, but I fear it may be several more months before we see it and National Knives had a very good deal going. I actually showed the NK deal to the owner of a local store to me and he matched the deal, so I was able to get it local in store. I'll eventually get the satin serrated version too, but will probably be late next year.

Very good news indeed!

Is there any way to tell how likely a Bodacious LW / FRN version is?

And how likely an FRN version is to have 4-position carry, like the Lil Temp 3?

If you're talking linerless FRN: I think very unlikely im the nearer future. Appearantly it is not easy to implement a comp.lock in (almost) linerless, a bit larger FRN models from what I gathered from discussions about the PM2 LW... (while the smaller Para 3 LW does exist of course).

Linered FRN?
Don't know.. to me personally this would be an upgrade over G10 indeed, but I guess firstly the model itself(with G10) would have to sell pretty well so that they can think about taking the financial risk of making expensive FRN molds.
Top three going by pocket-time (update April 25):
- EDC: Endela SE (K390). Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10), Chaparral SE (CTS XHP)
- Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 2 SE (LC200N), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), Endela SE (K390)

Indeed it could be a while. If it happens though, I think a four position clip is very likely.

Absolutely love the Bodacious. I would LOVE though if the scales were shaped more like the AWT scales. The palm swell is a little uncomfortable stock. The blade shape and the slim handles are just amazing. I would kill for some sprints, especially CruCarta, Magnacut, 15v, S90v, Rex 45, etc!

This is good news! Hopefully this model is gaining traction. Really hoping it gets the S90V Carbon Fiber treatment too.

My bodacious freely drops and has a very small amount of bladeplay side to side if you try to notice it. This is when both pivot screws are cranked down. Am i doing something wrong or is the bushing out of spec? It’s also a bit off center, can’t fix it. Im more concerned about the pivot though.

Have to think Crucarta may come as well eventually after SPY27?
Hoping.

Yeah, odd how long Spyderedge has been listed, but yet still unavailable.
Going back to Caly.

I too am hoping for additional Bodacious variants. Preferably in S90v (or MagnaCut with a heat treatment favoring edge retention). Or a coated 15v/ Cruwear/ M4 (assuming the coating process doesn’t diminish edge retention by a significant amount).

It is listed in the 2015 product guide, but one can´t click "SE" on the actual Spyderco site - is this always the case if they announce that a model will get an SE version, but they don´t have that option yet or at the moment - ?

/ In any case: A Bodacious SE would be a comp.lock model that really interests me...

Just received the blacked out Bodacious and I must say that this is the knife I always wished the Shaman would be for me. Excellent design. I won't be changing anything on this.

These are from Rockscale Design, I requested that they make them without a thumb hole groove on the side and asked them to media blast the back spacer to match the scales. Their design does replace the non lock side liner. Turned out pretty ok :cheap-sunglasses

I realize this post is 2 years old, but I'm curious as to the weight of Rockscale titanium scales were compared to the G10. I can't seem to find a weight anywhere.

The media blasting has a fine texture, almost like a high grit diamond sharpening plate and it sparkles a bit under direct light. I'm still hoping to see some more machined texture designs but so far most of them change the grip shape and that's the last thing I'm looking to do on this knife, I love it just how it is. Rockscale do have some machined patterns that are cool but I'm looking for more of a 3D texture. I would really love something like Strider's old Gunner Grip pattern.

I'll try to measure them later and get back to you. They are heavier than G10 but they also delete one of the liners and if you get the titanium back spacer that drops a little weight vs the factory steel one.

Don't have the bodacious but in case of the Military 2 (similar case, liner delete titanium scales) it raised the weight by ~20g

Can you replace the steel backspacer on the Bodacious with barrel spacers? Anyone make those?

No because the clip screws into it. If you also added helicoils for the clip screws then yes but that's getting pretty involved.
