This is why the Military 2 Salt is no longer under consideration for my "possible future purchases" list, even though it was also a dream model of mine, too. To me, the problem isn't the clip itself, but the lack of a flat landing spot for the clip. Why is the flat spot completely away from the landing spots (apparently, in both tip up and tip down position). Sadly, that's a deal breaker for me.

Yeah, I think you almost have to just make a landing pad for this pocket clip. Otherwise I feel like the clip would be obnoxiously long.

I haven't owned any of these stepped/recess textured salt handles before, never seen one close up... Is the design assumption that the longitudinal unbroken line along the middle of the scale possibly a flat enough surface for clips/pocket material?

Is clip grip tenacity on wet clothing/materials a concern here that overrode normal EDC clothing wear and tear so these knives aren't lost in the water?

Or yeah, just simple oversight?

Considering every FRN Salt has had the same scale texture as their non-salt version, I think Spyderco is just choosing poor clip landing pad designs on large folders still. Been an issue with the Police 4 and Chief LW, now appears to be an issue with the Military 2 Salt.

Hopefully it ends up working ok in tip up because I'd really like to own one of these. But I'm not modding a $250 knife to get the pocket clip working well. Already had to order new scales for my Police 4 to get the clip working how I want.

I assume that's part of the point of that line, but it doesn't solve the problem on the PM2 salt. The ridges still grip clothes (normal clothing).

You all are probably right the design has to change rather than having a super long clip.

I'm very surprised this hasn't been corrected yet. It has been discussed and lamented over for a while now, on a few different models.

Just passing ideas that popped into my head...

Perhaps there could be a small circle as a landing pad for each clip position on the larger knives. To connect it visually, a small isthmus could connect that circle to the logo. That may fix this issue without being too off-putting visually.

If you don't want to wait, maybe a drop of JB Weld pressed flat on the landing spot could provide a quicker fix.

Awesome, really looking forward to this one.

I had actually just signed in to ask whether Carpenter closing was going to delay the M2Salt release - apparently not :bug-red-white

Is the texture really that much more aggressive than the standard G10? I've never held one of the new salt models in hand.

I'm quite curious as well, would be great if its really a 'lock in' no slip grip.

It certainly looks really cool, which is the most important aspect.

Our first 'real' photos of the Mil2Salt, looks quite stylish yet tactical. I could see Q issuing James Bond one of these in a future film.

I think it's the most badass Military ever made 🤷🏼‍♂️

I have one inbound, I'll see how the pocket clip issue is. I also plan to try a deep carry clip on it too which will most likely not hit any sort of landing pad so I'll see how that works too.

Carrying a PM2 instead of the Millie 2 today for the first time in a month or so.

Man, it feels small.
I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.

Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.
