Wow, those blue sycamore scales look amazing! I bet they look even more so in person. It also looks like BHQ sold out their GB2 Cruwear exclusives today, as they should have for the great price they were offering.

Thanks, now I know I need to write sycamore when speaking about it in english ! Finding the names of wood essences in different languages is very hard, and the latin name is always so far away from what we say :winking-tongue . It's really mesmerizing in person, There's a couple of things I don't like on the hidden part of the scales (warping, they weren't as flat as I wanted), I'm gonna try to correct that and if I'm not able to I'll definitely simply make them again. Funniest wood of 2024 for me !

Yes, it sold out before my eyes ! I was yelling on the main channel of the french spyderco collector group to make a group order and one of us wanted one. At the moment of paying it went out of stock (I refreshed the cart every 30 sec because I felt it coming). Poor Sebastian entered a rollercoaster of feelings that night :grin-sweat
:respect In the collection :respect : Lots of different steels, in lots of different (and same) Spydercos.

Robin. Finally made an IG : ramo_knives

Hey all, being that this run was a dealer exclusive is there any chance it will come back around?

Kicking myself for not picking up this cruwear version and, man, are they hard to find these days.

Anyone know how many were made and are exclusives ever run a subsequent time?

Thank you.

Generally, they do not make a second run, I have only seen it in very rare cases. I have no idea how many were made but runs like this are generally a few 500 to 1000 or so.

I would highly recommend just picking up the original M4 version. IMO M4 is an awesome steel that will hold an edge longer than Cruwear but you did give up a little toughness and corrosion resistance. In all honesty the steels are pretty close, both tool steels with good toughness. If you don't like the carbon scale just replace them with whatever you like. I make wood ones for mine that looked great but they were a bit slick.

Good luck, it's a great knife.

Appreciate the information. I'll be on the lookout for a used m4 gb2.

Thanks William.

This thread has put the GB2 back on my radar, smack dab in the same niche as the Bodacious. Different in almost every way, yet similar. Liner lock vs comp lock. Tool steel vs stainless. Hollow ground vs FFG. Semi-premium scales vs mundane black G-10.

But both have blades a little over 3.5" long and 3 mm thick. Pretty typical blade profiles. Neutral handles. Easy to find aftermarket scales if you don't like OEM. Nice-looking, workmanlike knives.

I've never handled either one, but I get the feeling I'd really like both of them! Anyone care to compare?

I don’t have a Bodacious because of my GB2. I like the knife a ton, slices extremely well due to the hallow ground. I may get a Bodacious some point but as you said the knives are pretty similar.

I like the feel in hand of the GB2 more; the Bodacious scales would benefit from some contouring.

The lock on the Bodacious is easier to disengage one-handed.

Either model would serve well as a work knife.

Thanks for the comparison shot! Couple of nice-looking knives right there.

The comp lock isn't my favorite, but I can see how it would be easier to disengage, given how buried the GB2's lock is. As a lefty, I might just have to give up and close the GB2 two-handed.

You're welcome.

I'm right-handed, and I close the GB2 with two hands. I just reason to myself that this feature makes the locking mechanism more secure :smlling-eyes

I do carry the M4 frequently. The hollow grind is a joy to use.

I did not go for the Cruwear version, but I would be willing to jump on the next one. 4V would be a buy for me.

My Cruwear GB2 isn't as pretty as some shown here, but I still like it. And, as you can see in this photo, I have also not yet dyed the jade G10 scales.
