Forum site loads very slow

#1

Post by Wartstein »

For a two or three days now the forum site loads really slow (not only the whole site initially, but also each thread / post I click).
This is the case on both my laptop and phone and with various browsers, and only the case with the Spyderco forum site (all other sites load perfectly well).

It this a known issue that others experience too? Or for some reason just the case with me?
Top three going by pocket-time (update February 25):
- EDC: Endela SE (VG10). Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10), Chaparral SE (CTS XHP)
- Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 2 SE (LC200N), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), Pac Salt 1 SE (H1)

I have noticed this, too. It is happening both on my laptop and my phone. I'm using Brave browser on PC and Android, so I tested on Chrome browser and it was a bit faster, but still lagging.

Then I disabled my vpn and the problem went away, so for me the forum no longer plays nice with my vpn.

Forum was slow to load pages yesterday evening (CET) and this morning, however since about 10 minutes it's back to normal.

Just checked again with vpn back on and all is well, so whatever the issue was seems to have cleared. Thanks!

I've been having problems all day. It is frustrating as it says Spyderco timed out and didn't answer, etc. It takes several minutes to load. Have we gone back to dial up? :)

Yeah, it's been wonky for days. Perhaps related, or perhaps coincidental, the forum is making me log in a lot. I assumed the cause was some beta software I'm running because the forum looks when viewed on my iphone.

@Wartstein @CDEP @Paul Ardbeg @Doc Dan @RustyIron

I'm sorry for the frustration. It's not the forum per se; it's the fact that the forum is being hammered by someone/something. We've been working to resolve it for a while now, but it's not easy for reasons I can't share.

Hang in there with us.

I suspected as much @TazKristi when I realized it was intermittent. No worries. Good luck with it.

Hey, @TazKristi!
Everything's been running so well that I almost forgot that it was running badly recently.
Nice work.
Thanks.
