Anyone care to speculate regarding late appearance of the Manix 2 at Deadwood?

Just some stock held back…?

I got the email. By the time I clicked (I was curious to see if it was an email glitch), it wasn’t in stock.
Well...I order one. I missed all the first runs of the Manix in 15V. Just logged on to the forum and saw the post and went to their website. It was in stock for a few minutes and checked back and it was OOS...

I did receive an email invoice. Never ordered from Deadwood before, so time will tell. :thinking
Update...15V Manix came in the mail today!!!! All is Good :cheap-sunglasses ...nicely centered and running smoothly. Kind of a bummer that they are marking them up...Oh Well :thinking

Deadwood did have good communications and fast shipping just FYI. If anyone is still on the fence and don't mind paying a bit more.

Well the 15V Sprint run has run its course.

Thank you to everybody that supports and enjoys it and thank you to Spyderco for taking on a very challenging steel to work with.

This will definitely be one of the coolest projects I've had the privilege of working on it.

It was really special that it launched when my only son was born and after 5 months this 4 piece sprint series has all been released and all sold.

I hope one day when you are old enough Trevor, you'll read this thread and you'll know how special this knife is. The Manix 2 CPM 15V is your "birth knife"

Also, I love you very much.

Thanks for doing all the work to get us a very cool and capable steel Shawn! Maybe by the time some more 15V shows up we'll have to sharpen our current 15V knives.
Because desolate places allow us to breathe. And most people don't even know they're out of breath.

That is a beautiful baby boy, I think he will love it. I think that with this sprint you have been able the increase the number of people who own 15V knives by at least an order of magnitude, if not more. That is a huge achievement, we are grateful for your work and to be able to use this steel.

Okay! With the M2LW 15V on the horizon, I figured I'd bring this one back to the top!

I don't know when the release date is on this one, nor do the counter folks at the SFO, but I'm eagerly anticipating it.

I've never gotten a sprint model, but I think I will pick this one up! Hopefully with the news that they are releasing 5k of each model, that means there will be plenty to go around.

Starting to pay attention to various threads to see when shops start getting them in. I suppose it could be 5 days or 5 months away, but what's it hurt to talk about it until then? I'm excited!

Well I'm glad I'm not the only one anxiously awaiting it! I sold my G10 version because I still have the Mule, and I took a liking to the LW versions of the Manix more. So the news they were bringing it out in LW was great!

I do hope you're right that the announcement that there are 5k models will help things out. The real problem before wasn't even genuine scarcity, but the fact scalpers were buying the full stock of a dealer's first deliver up and so barely anyone with a genuine interest in one or two had to really hustle to get one. Even though some dealers restricted customers to 1-2 per household, a lot more didn't care and were happy to sell a huge order--and I can't blame a business for wanting to make money.

Hopefully with Spyderco announcing a solid number there won't be the FOMO to drive consumer demand for the scammers to exploit. Yet... Here I am still squirreling away money and wondering if I have enough time to only save half of what's needed now or if I should just put away the full price and hope I have the discipline to wait.

You most assuredly are not! I'm totally jazzed! I was talking to another fellow local Spydie nerd and he's really excited for the Native 5 15V release. While we were chatting, he let me hold is OG 15V Manix 2 G10. Very cool knife, and although I have a MT in 15V, I think it is inevitable that I go after a folder, and I'm enjoying the size, smoothness, and ambi-nature of the M2, so it is a natural match.

Been away from the knife world for awhile. My wallet was so relieved. But Spyderco releasing Magnacut, Rex 121, AND new 15v models has my wallet hiding.Their Magnacut has been good for me so far. Kinda bummed there won't be a Sage 5 in 15v. Either make it in the USA or beg BBB to for an exception to his US only rule. Or maybe wait for the Sage 6 to start begging...tough call lol

But this 15v Manix LW is what I really returned to score. GOAT is already making w set of scales for mine and will probably have them match anodized with my next custom paintball gun. Hopefully there will be enough that we all can buy 2 or 3. That's how many I'm planning on hunting down lol

With Crucible’s future uncertain, I can’t help but wonder what will happen to these specialized steel grades if the company were to disappear.
But with all readings I did, there seems in any case to be no more 15V in the future...

That is my sense as well, but part of that stems from ignorance on my part - is it a 'thing' that sprint runs transition into regular catalog production models? If so, what does the percentage look like?

I think two things that could be signaling a death knell here is that one, Crucible is going to be going away. While we are *somewhat* sure that many of the steels like have grown accustomed to will be able to be made by others, there is a lot of history, conversations, agreements, etc., that goes away. Will anyone else even be willing to entertain the idea of supplying REX-121 or 15V? That I do not know.

The other big hit is that this steel (and others) are so hard to produce and finish.

The 3rd and final strike would be if there was no demand, however it looks like the demand for this and others like is is flourishing, but that might be tunnel vision, as the 'edge crew' part of the knife community as a whole is still probably single digits.

Thanks. Hard to tell in these vendors that show OOS if they haven’t gotten them yet or already sold out.

Called BladeHQ just to confirm they got it and sold out as I had notifications on and never got anything.

I was told they only got 10, bonuses if they will get more and were sold in seconds. This might be an extremely hard knife to find.

I’d be surprised. It seems like they are making a lot now. Para 3 lw and M2s are still hanging around months later.

No doubt I want one so here’s hoping.
