I do like the Crucarta, the only thing I see so far with it, the side that lays against my leg continues to get darker as I carry it. I Sweat like a hog winter and summer lol.

The hotter it is outside the more I Sweat like a hog lol.
So there is going to be a dark side and a light side on the Crucarta, and won't matter if I have snaked the Crucarta or not.

Otherwise I would say it's a great scale material. Long as that doesn't bother you, it's an awesome scale material, you in Michigan may not have this issue so much.

The M2 design as a whole I like a lot, really like the compression lock setup and everything. The really new favorite of mine around here lately has been the Manix2xl, and it's a Crucarta also lol. I want to get another Manix2xl as I like the size of it so much more over just the Manix2.

Just not a lot to choose from in steel with the Manix2xl so I may end up getting another Crucarta in the XL lol. I know I want to try and get me a Manix2 in the MagnaCut once they release, I have nothing in MagnaCut, so to land one of those would be awesome.

Just wish it was in the XL size, but it will do fine, I already have a Flytanium Titanium ball cage for it, which now that I know how to modify the factory spring, I may or may not use the spring in the FlyTanium kit I have.

I do prefer the Titanium ball cage better but I don't have such the issue with the factory one now that I can modify the spring and take some of the starch out of it lol. They are really heavy from the factory and hard to clutch the Manix2 or the XL like I like mine anyway.

Most of my darkening of the Crucartas is from oil off my hand . I have five XL Manix models they are a long time favorite that seldom gets refreshed or an exclusive. You may like the Blue SPY27 recently released , I really like the Blue . You could also have Knives Plus do a mod for the standard XL . They did one for me a couple years ago and really like their work . Nice people too . Dan ( Illinois) :smlling-eyes

Endura 4 - This going to get a set of aftermarket scales I bought off ebay. Waiting on those now, as the knife showed up yesterday.

I already honed each side to a more even 17 degrees on each side. One was off in left field from the other.
Once the scales get here and they look like what they did on their website, I will tear down the knife, clean and lube and install the new scales...

Here is a few pix of it now, once new scales are installed, there will be more pix added.

Smock - Black Carbon Fiber scales with S30V steel. Small knife but exceptionally made.

Edit: 2.24.2025

Pix and mods added here. I cut one full wire wrap off, of the really small ball detent spring, ⁰that keeps the blade held closed. This really was needed to help the flipping open of the blade. Huge improvement...

This is a really small and short spring and to cut one full coil wrap of the wire is tight. Then getting the little ball bearing to stay in place while I reassembled the knife I used some lightweight assembly Grease, that is used to hold needle bearings in place and that is quickly melted away.

Then, I increase the small tight well refined countersink area around the blade lock release button. I used a Haas 120 degree countersink bit to achieve this.

Not the best pix of this as I am using a old smartphone at that, but if you look close you can see the changes made. Top pic is of the oem setup of the blade release button...

Yes just wish I had two of the tools to loosen and tighten these new Axle bolts. They are really nice to look at and just scream look at me. I am just one that likes to take my stuff apart clean and relube and start all over lol...

Edit: 2.25.2025

I have cut one tooth on each side of the blade flipping tab, for the finger to anchor in and huck tight. Couldn't add anymore pix to the post of the Smock, so just hope it's OK to tack them on here.

Nothing refined and nice to look at as the three they did on the top edge of the spine. Mine are just chewed in at best. Have a looksee

Catcherman - Lime green scales with LC200N steel. I keep this knife on my boat. It's pretty much bullet proof if you ask me.

The LC200N blade is the thinnest Spyderco I have to date. Very inexpensive fishing knife that would get the job accomplished.

No torx on the blade pivot bolt. It's got one small round blind hole in the center and five that are the same, spaced evenly around the outside edge.

It looks really cool, like the Spyderco 's from Italy, their hardware is awesome also. Now the Italian hardware does have a torx, the heads have just been fly cut into thirds, looks really good too.

The pivot bolt heads on the new Smock, I don't have anything that will fit it... what you call it or anything lol...

Well, your right it does have a torx, I didn't look at it that close and just assumed it was a special tool. Thanks Dan...

I got all the torx bits, sockets and drivers. Thank you for the offer though. I just sort of glanced at that head, and I knew it was new and figured they came up with a new special tool lol...

I never really looked that close at it, till you mentioned it lol. Thanks again.

Manix 2 XL - Black G10 scales with plain edge S30V blade steel. I have removed the plastic ball cage and stock OEM spring, using the stock steel ball and installed Flytanium aftermarket ball cage and spring.

Police 4 - Sprint Run with Micro Melt PD #1 steel and DHCustomKnifes - White G10 - scales. More to come from this later, but I have been wondering what this was going to look like. So here is a look see.

The knife is sitting on a nice fresh cold cut piece of 6.125" diameter stainless steel 316L... The slice is .375" thick. This slice of stainless cost more than the knife lol...

The split ball cage doesn't have the little trillium rod in it. I bought the cheap kit instead of the 110 dollar one, I was so uncertain of the Manix 2.

But must admit I really like the Manix2xl after I put the Flytanium spring and ball cage, should have bought the glow in the dark high performance one I guess lol...

Police 4 - Sprint Run with Micro Melt PD #1 steel. I have dhcustomknives Red G10 scales on this one. Local college colors "Texas Tech" here in Lubbock Texas...

Had no idea how it would look, but I like it, the red with black works really good. Drilling the lanyard hole out by hand and that close and tight against the clip holes is kind of hairy, you just got to make sure your bit is really sharp and that both flutes are bringing cuttings out, otherwise your drill bit is going to walk around on you and you have no room for that.
