Yes the FB03 was the fixed blade Tanto.
The folder/s were the C46

Spyderco Lum Tanto

Lum Tanto Forest Green/Black

Lum Tanto Burgandy Paperstone

Nirvana

Ronin

Are you referring to the Lum Tanto fixed or folder?
Wish I could afford a fixed.
I think the 3 Lums were all fixed blades. I found them on Spyderco's discontinued page.

Yeah there are both fixed and folders, both with same name. Like Larry clarified, different part numbers. You can still find both currently at a few different retailers, but just for a high price tag. Country knives and one other I can't remember now has the fixed blades. The folder was fairly recently an exclusive rerelease in M390.

I voted Rookie, but with the caveat that it needs a hollow grind and swedge. None of this FFG nonsense.
Exactly! That is what irks me with the reissues, they tend to get simpled down compared to the original models..
Same, I bought the Centofante III Cruwear and was very disappointed to learn that it was a saber grind. All of the Rookie's charm comes from that hollow grind and swedge :) If they can make a 15V super high and deep hollow grind on the Yojimbo, I'm sure it can be done on the Rookie by Seki. Even if that means using something like S30V or VG10 instead of Cruwear/K390.

I'd love K390 and hollow, though :winking-tongue
:respect In the collection :respect : Lots of different steels, in lots of different (and same) Spydercos.

Almost 100 votes! That's great!

Air is still pulling away, but we have until Tuesday for the poll to close. I'm wondering if we do a run off with the top 3?
Yes that will be fun to see the results.
All I can say at this time with the poll still in progress is stay tuned for further developments . 😊 Dan

Since the Air is still leading, I copied the Designer's Insight video of Gayle Bradley talking about the design. Some people may be surprised at the size of the knife and that it does not come with a pocket clip.

This is a tough one. Of the options presented, I currently have a three way tie between the C95 Manix, the Ulize, and the Rookie.

The Rookie might be the most appealing because I just don't carry my 4 inch blades that much, as much as I like them, they sit around in the sock drawer more of the time.

I guess I have a few days to ponder before I vote.

There is nothing gentlemanly over what I have planned for this knife, so I wouldn’t get mad if they changed the handle material and added a pocket clip on a possible sprint. But the Air is interesting enough, even in its original form, to claim top spot among these redo candidates. It is very tight in the top spots, so I’ll probably be quite happy if we see any of these get a redo.

I feel a bit bad for not voting for the Rookie though. It’s the sprint I’ve been lobbying for the longest, but after picking up a very good sample for a reasonable price, that box is now kind of checked for me. And I rather have a stab at another classic than adding another Rookie in a more exotic steel.

surprised at all the votes for the air. prior to this thread I couldn't tell you the last time I saw that model mentioned at all here.

Ulize is a really neat model but after handling it and the Police 3 side by side, I went with the Police. I'd rather see a P3 sprint myself. Sal had talked about a Ti/ZDP189 Police 3 for years that never got green lit......
May you find peace in this life and the next.

Yeah I thought that ending to the video was really cool. Reminds me a lot of what Sal has done around the industry. Definitely a lot of respect for Mr. Bradley. Adds to what is already one of my favorite models the GB2.

I'd also be interested in this. The P3 is one of my favourite Spydercos and while I do like VG10 a sprint in a different steel would interest me. Something hard with with good edge stability would be my preference.

So now the Air has won by a clear margin, should we start discussing production possibilities?

23% is far from a majority, so we are running a runoff poll part 2 with the top 4. Go cast your vote and join the discussion.
