While I’m sure Spyderco has a lot of knowledge about steel, that’s a very different thing from running a foundry business. If anyone is asking for my advice, Spyderco should focus on their core competencies.

I don’t know why people are so spun up about Crucible. There will be more steel. And that steel will have different letters and numbers. All the people who are super excited about new letters and numbers and are super bored with the old letters and numbers will have a good couple of years while Spyderco substitutes other steels over the next couple years.

What disappointed me about hearing the news wasn't so much a concern that interesting steel alloys would disappear, but more so being sad that one of the few U.S. based steel suppliers might be shut down, which looks like the most likely scenario at this point. The industry seems to have good plans in place for maintaining the supply of the favorite steel alloys, but I will still be disappointed to see production move over seas.

Basically how I feel as well. My fav letters and numbers and letters from spyderco will always be the good ol V G 10
