Spyder Folks, convince me on the Endela.
I am a long time lover, collector, and daily user of the Spyderco Endura. I have a Delica and it is good but I prefer blades over 3 inches long. What are some good reasons for me and others to own and use an Endela? Specific model doesn't matter. Let's include any steel and both Emerson Wave and non Wave Endelas.

It’s the Goldilocks size!
I find the larger than Delica to be very useful without going full on Endura. There is something about the blade and scale size that work edc for me very well
It’s a personal thing but having (at least) one in each size is useful and variety spice of life ….

Unlike Endura and Delica the Endela can be had in VG10 ffg SE and with a great serration pattern.
Top three going by pocket-time (update April 25):
- EDC: Endela SE (K390). Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10), Chaparral SE (CTS XHP)
- Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 2 SE (LC200N), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), Endela SE (K390)
- EDC: Endela SE (K390). Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10), Chaparral SE (CTS XHP)
- Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 2 SE (LC200N), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), Endela SE (K390)
Re: Spyder Folks, convince me on the Endela.
For me, it's the perfect size. the Endura is over the legal limit here, and the Delica is smaller than I like for an EDC knife. My K390 model has been a trooper.
Re: Spyder Folks, convince me on the Endela.
I'm not the one to convince you. I have an Endela, but like you, I prefer the Endura. Mostly because the Endura blade is not as wide across as my Endela. Going one step further, I prefer the Stretch or Stretch 2 to the Endela for a more medium sized Spydie lockback.

Ummm. Stick with the endura!
I like the endela but the endura just fits me better.
If I was gonna push one though I'd have to say get an eldela wharncliffe k390.
I have the endura wharncliffe and it's great

Re: Spyder Folks, convince me on the Endela.
I haven’t tried an endura, but I want to. I stumbled across a sweetheart deal in a k390 endela and picked it up. I immediately hated it. I used it hard for several weeks at work and it grew on me to the point it’s right up there with my favorites for work, which are usually larger. The resilience and the military 2 cruwear are my top two hard work knives and my endela holds its own without drawing as many looks. I’m convinced that it’s a keeper but I do also want to try an endura and possibly a police 4.
Re: Spyder Folks, convince me on the Endela.
I have one Endura and eight Endela variants. The Endela fits both my hand and my pocket better. Try handling one at a store, since people have different hand sizes.
Re: Spyder Folks, convince me on the Endela.
I have a K390 Endela, it’s a great knife, but I honestly use and like my K390 Leafjumper just a little more.

I always wondered why the Endura is not offered in VG-10 FFG SE. One would think that would be an obvious option. So, it looks like if I want the blade length of the Endura (which I prefer) but want a stainless steel blade in FFG with serrations it looks like the only choice is the linerless Pacific Salt with LC200N steel.Wartstein wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2025 2:08 pmPerfect reason:SpyderEdgeForever wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2025 10:32 am... Because you have some disposable income and you want to experience something out side of your usual ‘wheel house’.
If I am being brutally honest, that is why I normally venture in to new territory. Be it design, steel or handle material. Sometimes it pay off. Other times it is a waste of time!

This is pretty much the only selling point for me personally. I would go for a Stretch 2 XL or even a Chief first. I know they're not exactly comparable in size but they're more of what I like overall.

I can understand that... I have not much experience with the Chief (and never had on with serrations), but the Stretch XL has great serrations too, I think pretty much like the Endelas, if not even a tad better.Evil D wrote: ↑Wed Jan 15, 2025 4:57 amThis is pretty much the only selling point for me personally. The longer cutting edge is a plus to me anyway.
What I prefer in the Endela is the presumably a bit stronger tip, and I like the balance and feel of the linered handle a bit better, while the knife is still pretty light.
I am also one of those who find the Endura and Endela ergos great for me and the way I hold knives.

All I can say is that out of my growing collection, a variant of the Endela is the one I always grab unless I specifically think about picking another.

What Endura models do you have in your collection ? Which one gets carried the most ? I would go with your comfort zone to try out an Endela . MG2

This right here! I have owned pretty much every Golden and Seki model and the Endela is a perfect fit in every way. It is my favorite model. I own the K390, Cruwear, and PD-1 versions. If I want something a tad smaller I go with a Delica Wharnie or regular Delica. I find the Endura too large for my folding knife needs. If I need larger I'll carry a fixed blade.

Re: Spyder Folks, convince me on the Endela.
I used the Endela for a while, as it was my only FFG CE at the time, but I've hardly used it after I got my FFG CE Endura.
For my smaller hands, neither is a perfect fit, but I hardly notice a difference between the two in my hand. And not really in the pocket either. But I easily notice that the blade on the Endura has more edge to work with.
I also don't like that the blade tip of the Endela sits very shallow in the scales (could be a bad sample). Even before any sharpening it is almost flush with the scales.
My Rock jumper feels comparable in size, and I easily prefer it to the Endela. Unfortunately the Jumpers don't seem to get as much love (variants) as the Endela.
I don't have a Stretch 2, but the Stretch 1 is one of my favorite Spydercos, so if I needed more variation in that size bracket, I'd take my chances on a S2 rather than another Endela.
This is just personal preference. Like with any model, some like it and rate it as their favorite, while others may not like it much at all.

Re: Spyder Folks, convince me on the Endela.
I have xxl hands and the Endela’s first hump is a lot smoother and more comfortable than the Endura. The first handle groove in both of them are too small to fit my index and middle finger. The Endela wins for me.aicolainen wrote: ↑Wed Jan 15, 2025 9:20 amI used the Endela for a while, as it was my only FFG CE at the time, but I've hardly used it after I got my FFG CE Endura.

I'm with you, if I can carry something larger, the Stretch 2 XL is much nice to me than the Endura. Different strokes. Grateful for all the options!steelcity16 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 15, 2025 8:05 am

I have to many knives, but I find that I carry the endela the most. It fits my hand perfect and is very light. I think it is about perfect.
