i haven't cut anything with it yet (except popping a couple hairs from my arm), so i can't comment on its performance.
things i like so far:
it's still very thin and compact, fitting nicely in a fifth pocket, but now slightly more hand filling and with a full grip.
i like the pointy tip. it's going to be great for whittling/carving, as previously showcased.
i think it's pretty cool to see spyderco do a modern take on a traditional style knife. the original roadie just feels like a small slip joint. the ukpk and lil native just feel like spydercos made into slip joints. the roadie xl, on the other hand, feels like a modern tradition knife made by spyderco.
i like having a slip joint in my collection, as well as something from the factory in italy. the roadie already accomplished this, but now i have a second one in the collection.
i like that it's a new steel for me to try. i've not had anything in m398 yet.
the taller blade shape means better geometry behind the edge also, so it's going to be a better slicer than the standard version.
it won't be replacing any of my larger edc knives, but it does work well as a backup.
honestly, when i first saw it, i thought it was a hideous upgrade to a knife that didn't need any upgrades. lb is wrong sometimes. its a sweet little knife.
