15V is a tool steal that will rust/patina without care, basically making sure it’s dry when you put it away and avoiding highly corrosive use. It will hold an edge for a long time but still has enough toughness you don’t need to baby it.
MagnaCut is very stainless and requires little upkeep. It is also a very tough steel so you can abuse it (ie use it harder) a bit more with out fear of chipping. It will keep a decent sharp edge but you will need to sharpen it significantly more than 15v.
Totally depends on your use case, expectations and sharpening equipment as 15v needs Diamond/CBN stones to properly sharpen.
Either way two amazing steels, can’t go wrong with either.

Very hard to predict. Some reveals take a full year or more to drop. Inside info is hit or miss. And even then, "soon" can mean another 6 months. Dealers seem to have a better idea but often just weeks in advance.
Thought I seen someone say they received their para3 black salt in the mail , thinking maybe collectors club have been sent out so then they must not be far from dropping for everyone else
well considering they just revealed them not long ago I would look at other models if you want a knife this century, I am still waiting for the PM2 magnacut in satin that was announced what? 11 months ago? I was thinking of giving up and just getting the black version but they were released, sold out fast and never restocked (at least not in Canada lol)
Had to buy the benchmade mini adamas in magnacut this past weekend instead seeing as it was at the price it should be all the time.
If you are fine with waiting though, the 15v is impressive stuff, I dont know what magic BBB did with the heat treat but it performs better than it should it seems, I have the PM2 and Shaman, tougher than I expected it to be, not chippy, sharpens easier than I thought, edge lasts forever, I dont ever have issues with corrosion as I just use fluid film on my tool steels and even prevents patina
Any places that you can recommend to buy in Australia?
These high-demand exotic steel 15V sprint runs are impossible to buy from stores in Australia in my experience. Local online retailers mostly import the regular production models, and often only the less expensive models.
Your next best option is to wait until they drop and then buy from a USA retailer who ships to Aus. To get the timing right from our time zone, amid a feeding frenzy in the USA before stock runs out in minutes, is almost impossible, but I've been lucky before.
Your most likely catch will be on ebay, but be prepared to pay a premium when you buy from a flipper.
Or ask a mate in the USA to help you out.
Welcome, and sorry to break the bad news...

Good advice from Hans. Also look at Lamnia in Finland. They get the sprints. Probably not in big numbers though. Cheaper generally through them once you take in to consideration postage. It’s free for orders over $250AUD using their national post. Or about $16AUD for very speedy UPS.
Either USA or Europe (with free post) is heaps cheaper than local.
You will get used to which ‘exclusives’ are available through the USA dealers who will export.
I would gladly buy from local retailers, except the prices are ridiculous. Even at sale times.
I rarely get a knife where the quality annoys me enough where I feel the need to return it. So no advantage in buying local.
Happy hunting. I picked up the Shaman and Manix 2 in 15V. For the life of me I couldn’t get the PM2. But that is part of the hobby.
Welcome to the forum!
Go with the 15v if you can get it.
Magnacut is everywhere and in everything. Kinda killed the allure of that steel for me even though it's very good.
It's become the "beard and sleeve tattoo" of steel. Everyone has it
Thank again ,
Would love to get the 15v !!! Would still love the maganacut , hard not to buy both if I could !
There are a few Aussie online places taking pre orders for each , they seem confident that they will get stock, but of course they will say that!
Have to pay for both knives in full , not just a 10% deposit, so I have to tie up the cost of a full Knife, might not get it for a year, they might not get it at all, we definitely put down a deposit on both of it was just that but paying in full and not even knowing if your getting them and having the money tied up sucks !
Does anyone know of any good Aussie online stores ?
What about US stores that I should keep an eye on ?
Do you have to pay in full or do they take a deposit that’s returned if you don’t get it ?
Not sure if this thread is the right one. But it had the right title. I consider myself a Para 3 connoisseur. With that said I have seen a lot of Para 3 blades. Many have different steels and coatings. Some from time to time have uneven grinds or blemishes. So I don’t normally have any complaints or at least voice my opinions but I want to share the latest version of Para 3 I just received. I’m not complaining and I’m very excited to use my new knife. This is how my newest piece arrived.
After I use the edge up I will rep reprofile it. I only was posting this because I’ve heard a lot of people complaining about lock stick, scratches, uneven edges, and more. I understand the concerns when spending over $100 for something you want it perfect. But even for me someone who collects Para 3’s I respect the fact that it’s a tool first. No tools are made perfect. They all have their own characteristics making them unique. Also 15v, Rex 121, and K390 are really difficult to make perfect. Like I said not complaining just speaking my mind. Sharing my thoughts. Carry on.

I noticed you mentioned lock stick. I got my Para 3 LW 15V and the edge is great but I am getting some pretty bad lock stick. It probably sticks every 4th or 5th lockup, but when it stick it really sticks. When I put enough pressure on the compression lock it releases making a click when it hits the side.
I am going to take it apart, clean it and maybe even run a very fine stone in the lock area to make sure there is no burr or something else. I already oiled with no luck. I will also keep working the action for a few weeks to see if it improves.
Anyone have any suggestions or experience something similar? BTW this is probably my 20th Spyderco and the only time I have had a slight issue.
Thanks

I haven't yet reprofiled my 15V PARA3 but have attended to my PM2, Manix 2, and Shaman from the first 15V run. I won't say it is easy, but it is considerably easier than I expected. All I am using are diamond rods on a Sharpmaker, and I'm taking all my knives with harder PM steels to 15dps.
The factory edges on all my 15v blades has been great, but I just take them straight to a reprofile anyway. At most, I've made minor tweaks to the pivot to get the action exactly as I like it.
I touch up on a strop after carrying and then just take them to the medium brown rods as needed, which hasn't been often. I don't enjoy sharpening, so this system works best for me and saves me time in the long run.

Oh wow! I’d be honored if you sharpened my 15v. I wasn’t expecting that but I will definitely take you up on that offer.

Shawn is the best, hooked me up in the past on something, wouldn’t even take anything in return.
