Will you be doing a Manix 2 Maxamet G10 version?

Has anyone seen or heard anything suggesting price increases or MAP changes for 2025?

Definitely Glad I snagged a manix 2 lw in Maxamet on sale for the holidays. I love the Stonewashed blade. I wish Spyderco would do it more.

I agree, I would like to see higher edge/handle ratios on many models (this is one reason I like the Native Chief). Hopefully an improved Leaf Jumper 2 with a longer edge will appear soon.aicolainen wrote: ↑Wed Oct 30, 2024 8:29 amI can relate to much of what you're pointing out here.phaust wrote: ↑Tue Oct 29, 2024 4:31 pmIt was super exciting for me when they said they'd be doing a no choil model for those of us who like the blade going right up to the handle. A big part of that preference though is better blade to handle ratio, and the design has a worse ratio than your regular Delica. It just missed one of the main points for why that type of design is desirable. Throw on top the meh QC and quality out of Japan and the ridiculous prices (at MAP), and it went from exciting to easy pass.
If I remember correctly, the improved blade to handle ratio (or rather edge to handle ratio) was even one of the attributes of handle forward that Spyderco used to pitch this model.
Though I somewhat disagree with your comparison to the Delica, because the edge to handle ratio is actually somewhat improved on the Jumpers compared to the Delica, and in all fairness that's what you should compare given that much of the design philosophy with handle forward is to hide the ricasso portion of the blade inside the handle.
That said, they didn't utilize the full potential of the handle to get the best possible ratio.
Personally I think the blade on my Rockjumper is more than adequate and rather the handle that was unnecessarily long, so with the current Jumpers being what they are, my hope was rather that the concept would be successful enough to warrant a smaller version. And this time with improved edge to handle ratio.
So my disappointment with this discontinuation isn't so much that the Leafjumper model specifically disappears, but that the handle forward concept is likely to die with it. Or in the best case shelved for the foreseeable future.
One last objection / reservation with regards to your assessment is with regards to QC. While probably more to do with the design than differentiation in QC, my impression is that the Rockjumper was a notch above the Endura family in perceived quality. So in that regard, if the Jumper-family was extended to more sizes and blade shapes, I could easily see myself pick the Jumper counterparts for their improved ergonomics, ratios and general impression, even at a (reasonable) price premium.
