I'm not sure if this will help. But I would be interested in the (2) plain and (2) serrated of the carbon fiber civilians. I have a couple now and it is the most intimidating knife I have ever owned. Sure hope Spyderco comes through with this one!!!

To the new posters, Welcome to the Spyderco forum. Thanx for the support. We appreciate.

It seems there is some interest in the model as a single run.

Sal- what kind of run does it take to make a special run like these carbon fiber civilians? I know we all ask for certain special knives and it is not always possible, I was just wondering.

JYork. It really depends on the model and the maker. It also depends on the additional tooling involved. With some steels, there are large minimum quantities or long lead times. No hard and fast rules.

I really need to get on some dealer's list for one of these. I had set things up with James Mattis before he passed away (rest in peace, James). Any suggestions, folks? Sal?

I hope I got this straight. Even though I don't see it posted here, in the Bladeforum Spyderco post, Sal says, the Carbon Fiber Civilian is already in production schedule, expected to be out in late December or early January. Is that correct? or am I missing something! Thanks!

No more lurking, I’ve been flushed out.

A carbon fibre Civilian, SpyderEdge, yes please (the wife has pinched the Matriarch).

Good work Sal!

I won’t let myself slip back into the ether.

Sal, in this earlier post of yours:

[I'll look into the numbers and see what I can do.

500 CF Civilians

250 PlainEdge (25 left handed)
250 SpyderEdge (25 left handed)

serrations on left handed version will not be reversed.

It will more than likely be a "one shot" deal with all pieces being pre-sold.

sal]

Do the first 200 knives go to the Spyderco Collectors Club and then the remaining knives are avialable for sale? Will all the knives be numbered? Thanks for your help!

If the first 200 of each go to the collectors club, does that mean there will only be 50 plain and 50 serrated left over?

Any word on pricing?

Ben, no there should be 300 left. Most collectors only get 1 knife, not both versions.

Since the CF Civvie is considered a variation, there is no requirement for the (1st 200) collectors to buy one (except those that commited to get them all). So more than likely, there will be more than 300 left.

If the demand is great enough, we could make another 500 for a 1,000 total. However, I don't think this knife will be popular outside of Spyderco collectors. I wouldn't want to make more than 1,000 total though, regardless of demand.

Thanks for the info guys! I was assuming that the CF Civilian serrated edge would be the numbered editions and the plain edge ones would be the numbered ones with the "V" (as opposed to them all being numbered with "V" because they are all variants of the original civilian).

Is there provision for collectors club member to accept a variation of a knife without having to accept all variations.
I know most Spydercos are great as serrated blades but sometimes it's nice to own both plain and serrated of select models.

Hi ya'll~
I've been WAY busy, but I wanted to drop in and say "hey." I believe the rumour is true. Carbon Fiber Civilians, both plainedge and Spyderedge, are in the works. That includes lefties in both versions. SFO has them on order and will have them available WHEN they are available. Patience Amigos <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle> You know they will be worth the wait.
Aloha~
