With the Leaf Jumper and earlier Rock Jumper now discontinued (tepid sales, I suspect), I worry that the larger Cliff Jumper and Sequoia will suffer the same fate as the Caribbean XL models, and simply not materialize.

IIRC, there was a prototype of at least the Sequoia at one of the Blade Shows. I don't know if that necessarily means that the model is continuing forward, or not, but I'd think it at least sheds some positive thought towards seeing the model eventually reach the market.

While we are trying hard to keep up with requests and demand, squeezing in new concepts is always challenging. The "handle forward" concept didn't have the reaction I had hoped for, and with slower sales, the "space" had to make way for other new models and concepts.

That doesn't mean that it's "gone forever". The future may offer refinements, requests, or other reasons to bring it back.

I'm wondering if a Seki-City compression lock would've closed the gap between hopeful and actual sales.

Then again, the Temperance 3 seemed to be priced a bit too high for a lot of folks.

My knife budget didn't materialize this year in the way I'd hoped - the only knives I bought were Byrds for gifts. The K390 Leajumper was on the list, but I'll probably miss it by now. Glad I picked up a RockJumper when they came out.

I only learned of the leaf jumper after it got discontinued, and much cheaper . It’s the first no choil lockback I’ve found comfortable. And where I don’t have to worry about how much I choke my grip forward!

My brain just assumes from growing up handling kitchen knives (supposition )that it’s always safe to choke up to the first “wall” of the blade, whether that’s a choil induced by EG a deep belly a la cooking knives OR some sort of finger guard, a la the *jumper handles

Index finger right up against the cutting edge does not appear to be the dominant configuration in folders. There is either the finger choil, or extended ricasso, or some type of a guard/flipper tab which place the index finger some distance behind the cutting edge. Of these, the finger choil suits me the best - comfort holding the handle, and the option to get right up on the edge when you need to.

The handle forward design is even better - close to the blade without sacrificing comfort, and generally get more edge length. I really like the Caribbean and the Bodacious. If these were available when I first started trying Spyderco, they would likely dominate my collection.

I hope Spyderco doesn't give up on this design. Selfishly, at least in their Taiwan and Golden lineup.

It is disappointing that jumpers are discontinued. I was hoping to eventually see some other variants.

Leafjumper is a real performer. I was reluctant to buy it because it is pretty ugly, but it is one heck of knife that appears to be designed for function rather than looks. A little bit like a sleeper of car of knives, a sleeper knife.
It fits my (med-large) hand perfectly and comfortably. The edge profile, thickness and the type of leaf shape (arrow like vs spoon-like) is perfect. Also, the negative angle of the blade relative to the handle seems to be in the sweet spot. No jimping on the thumb ramp actually works very well, and the tall thumb ramp works perfectly here.

I will try to snatch one more K390 PE before they’re gone.

The honeymoon is going strong for me. The K390 LJ been my everyday work knife since it arrived.

I'm finding the handle and blade to both be excellent.

Discontinued?! I’m glad I got 4 of them then. Leafjumper, Leafjumper K390, Rockjumper, and Rockjumper SE. I was holding my breath for a salt variant. Long term use, I always gravitate back to the Leaf K390. The profile is **** near perfect edc. It slices everything like butter if I keep it clean. The blue-ish scales live in my denim pocket perfectly. The Rockjumper SE is my staple yardwork knife.
