Very sorry for your loss Ed. We lost our dog a year ago this past June 27th...to be exact, the same day as the 10 year anniversary of owning our home. There's not a day that goes by that we don't talk about our Tony "Bubby". Normally left laughing about a story, but then feeling bummed because we miss him so much. But, we know our lives were better to have had him for the 8 years we had him, than to have never have had him at all. I'm willing to bet you feel that way as well. It's tough, but a good reminder to yourself when feeling down.

Ed, I'm so sorry about Atlas. I have an injured cat right now, which is breaking my heart, so I can imagine how sad you must be. You did the right thing by not letting him suffer, and as you said, he is in heaven now with all the other dogs. In time it will get easier. Take care.
Thank You Gentlemen for sharing your stories with me. My recent revelation is that
My wife & I are the lucky ones to have had Atlas be such a big part of our lives.

Thanks Again-Ed

Sorry Ed. That's extremely tough. No easy way about that.

After being without a dog for exactly a year and 3 months today (I can't believe it's been that long already)...it's looking very likely we'll be coming home with a sweet, 12 week old girl from a local rescue today after 3:00pm :beaming-face

It was tough to get some good pics of her today, because she was either napping or acting like a lunatic and wouldn't sit still! It's a weird feeling having a dog again, especially a pup after having a stubborn old man before. But seeing the love in my wife and daughters eyes already, I know it was the right decision. This is Punkin!

That is awesome, congrats Rick.
I had a similar experience when we got a puppy a year ago after our older dog has passed. The joy my wife and kids experienced with a new puppy was totally worth it.

Thanks guys! She was a very good girl last night too. Loves her crate, so we kept it in our room, with the gate open. She slept in there for a while, but eventually came to our bed. Which is fine with us. Best part, no accidents over night! My wife caught this one of her floppy ears perfectly, mid zooomie.

She stole my daughters smooshmellow and uses it as a bed haha. Good shot of her random spot on the butt. My wife says it's the target for "butt slappies" :rofl

Also, the rescue wasn't sure what kind of breed her and her brother are. If anybody has any ideas, please throw them my way! I'd like to know what I've got to get ready for haha!

Dogs are cool but I do not trust pit bulls. I have seen nice ones but pit bulls were bred to fight and kill. They are a weapon on four legs that have time and time again bit and killed adults and children unprovoked or mistakenly.

After doing some more research, she's most definitely some kind of Pointer mix. She did the Pointer stance just yesterday in the backyard and that was a dead giveaway. Wife looked into photos and found a bunch that look similar to her.
