No new Byrd models for 2024?

#1

Post by Megatron9000 »

From what I saw on Blade HQ's youtube interview with Eric Glasser I made an assumption that there'll be no new Byrd models for 2024 in sight. Please, correct me if I'm wrong [oh, Lord, I wish I were wrong here].
Is that so, no new models this year?

Hi Megatron,

I just received a prototype sample of a model that I discussed with Albatross some time ago. It could be out for 2024?

Good afternoon, Sal!
Really? Wow! Can't wait to see it in reality.
After ready product version is released, it would be interesting to see that knife evolution from concept drawings (how it was supposed to look like and what do we have in the end) and so on, just like automakers do.

Hi Megatron,

Hard to do without attracting copies to come out before the original. We usually don't show pics on public forums until 6 months prior to release. We show them at some shows, to get feedback, but don't permit photos.

Of course, I understand.
I meant, after product is officially released and available for purchase on website et al, to make a post/video of how the model could look like. Like "at first, we had an idea to use this and make it look like that, but we refused that concept and then went for this and therefore it looks like that" kinda story behind the knife.
I think it would be curious to know how the guys at the company came to this product solution, and it shows the workers' perpetual efforts towards perfection.

Sal purely as a thought experiment: if you were to have a fixed blade Byrd made with say a full flat grind and the current Byrd steel, would it make a good edc tool and survival knife? I would get more than one.

Hi SpyderEdgeForever,

I thought that Eric was working on a collaboration fixed lade design with plans for China.

Hey Megatron,

I Understand that a production of the earlier mentioned model is on it's way to Golden. It's one of my designs so I'm curious as to reaction?

Hi Megatron,

It's a design that came up in discussion a couple of years ago, but we decided to finally put it into the line. Should be out soon. I'm using to test a concept.

Hi SEF,

I'm working on your Scimitar, but it's not an easy design to shrink up to byrd size. I'll see what I can do?

I am so happy and honored beyond my words can express, sal! Thank you! Will the blade be at least 3.0 mm thick? Wow I am excited.
