I agree. This is the first knife in a long time I picked up that can rival the PM2. Between the ergonomics and blade it is a close contender.Wartstein wrote: ↑Mon Jul 08, 2024 11:20 pm
Glad you finally did!
The Tenacious is a great design indeed - for me personally in that size category "the better PM2" (which is not against the PM2 at all (also great design), but FOR the Tenacious)
Compared to a PM2 with the Tenacious one get´s an Endura length (and so clearly longer) cutting edge in a clearly shorter package, still a full grip on the tall, handfilling handle even for larger hands, a thinner blade with I think still an a bit more robust tip, and the for me personally superior linerlock (makes for better handle ergos and a more "natural" use).
Now with the Titanium Tenacious one can even have noticable lighter weight than a PM2 offers (while th FRN Tenacious "lightweight" has practically PM2 weight)

Re: Titanium Tenacious
Did a search and didn't see the spec listed anywhere, but can anyone that has the new Ti model and also has a set of calipers measure the handle thickness? Looks slightly slimmer than the standard G10 or LW version from the photos but hard to tell. Thanks in advance
Re: Titanium Tenacious
Still enjoying this one

10mm or 0.394in handle thickness!Guts wrote: ↑Thu Jul 18, 2024 9:11 pmDid a search and didn't see the spec listed anywhere, but can anyone that has the new Ti model and also has a set of calipers measure the handle thickness? 11.7mm on my lightweight tenacious so this new Ti RIL tenacious is slimmer, also has milling on the inside of the scales creating a lighter weight of 93grams!
Re: Titanium Tenacious
Appreciate it! Still hadn't seen anyone post that info until you did, so thanks for that and frankly I'm surprised Spyderco doesn't list it on the product page. You'd think it would be an additional selling point for some. I'll be picking one of those up for sure eventually.AAA2018 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 20, 2024 9:04 pm10mm or 0.394in handle thickness!Guts wrote: ↑Thu Jul 18, 2024 9:11 pmDid a search and didn't see the spec listed anywhere, but can anyone that has the new Ti model and also has a set of calipers measure the handle thickness? Re: Titanium Tenacious
No worries mate, yeah it's overlooked for sure- the handle thickness is something I look for and this Ti tenacious is perfect! -Delica handle thinness, lightweight, nice hydraulic action once broken in after a few days!
Also good size bronze washers using grease, stainless steel lock bar insert with overtravel stop.
The Ano blue is real eye pleasing in person too!

Re: Titanium Tenacious
Great shot
I picked one up and it is a great piece- fit and finish is spot on and that gimpping is so good- haven't seen any spydies done like that before!
Re: Titanium Tenacious
The Ti-nacious needs a matching Ti-mascus clip. IMHO

Re: Titanium Tenacious
Dude, this thing exceeded my expectations tenfold…
It’s thin and light, carries and feels like something much more expensive. The detent’s a little on the mushy side but other than that, what a gem. I also used this as an opportunity to get one of those “blades we love” anodized finishes and even THAT’S pitch perfect. I think I’m gonna pick up one of their chefs next…that’s a pretty gaping hole in my collection and if it looks anything like this thing…

These are sweet I've considered getting one a couple times. I'm a Resilience, Efficient and UpTern kinda guy tho.
A Resilience and Efficient in this configuration would be the business!

Re: Titanium Tenacious
For less than half the price of the Spydiechef the Ti Tenacious is definitely worth the price IMHO. Check out the clearance of the lockbar cutout compared to the spydiechef- excellent! Much larger phosphor bronze washers in Tenacious aswell. The lower recaso is perfectly placed to catch on the thumb when unlocking the blade for safe closing.
The internal milling on the scales is a nice touch bringing the weight down to 3.3oz taking it under the oz to in ratio! The jimping is sooo good! Unique to this model.
Well done Eric and team, you deserve credit where credits due! Home run it's a great designed, well made piece.

Re: Titanium Tenacious
The next variant of the titanium Tenacious ("disarray finish") WILL offer D2 instead of 8CR - at least that's what the new "Reveal" says... (https://publications.spyderco.com/view/ ... #zoom=true)
Great and smart change imo!!!

Re: Titanium Tenacious
I love this knife in Ti, but I'm disappointed with my particular example. Full disclosure, I bought it with the intent of swapping blades. I picked the coated version, and I believe that was my mistake. When it arrived yesterday, I immediately discovered it had the stiffest, grittiest action I've experienced... maybe ever.
I tried to loosen the pivot screw, but it wouldn't budge. I heated the pivot with a heat gun, still no joy. I tapped the screw using a very small diameter pin punch. No luck. Finally, I placed it flat on a leather knife mat, leaned on it with as much force as I could muster, and started torquing. Nothing. But I could feel the Torx head rounding, so I quit. I've concluded that by applying coating to both the screw and pivot body, and then possibly applying loctite as well, the manufacturer essentially welded the parts together.
So now I'm stuck with a decent knife that isn't really what I want, that works okay, with a barely acceptable action that can't be corrected but that will probably break in. It's beautiful, light, and maybe even more ergonomic than my G-10 and FRN Tenacious.
So, mixed feelings.

I'm bummed for you. I've been saving cash and excuses to buy one of these.
It gets challenging with juxtapositions... A nice knife, but not what you want or expect. Otherwise, how is it? Centered?

Re: Titanium Tenacious
Almost centered. Centering would be one of the corrections I’d try to make if I could budge the pivot screw, but I’m afraid it would require tightening rather than loosening, so wrong direction for improving the action.
Edited to suggest buying the uncoated version. Better chance of a good specimen, I think. I like the model so much I’m even thinking of doing that myself.

Really sorry to hear that!
But honestly, while I usually would not return Spydies I bought, what you describe would really have made me thinking about doing just that ("stiffest, grittiest action... ever" ; "barely acceptable action that can´t be corrected") - ?
The three Tenaciouses I owned all had perfect fit and finish (FRN and G10 variants though), so I don´t think what you experience with yours has to be accepted?
/ And yes, mentioned here several times already and one of the cool things about the TI Tenacious is that it actually is lighter than the (FRN) "lightweight"..

Re: Titanium Tenacious
I might try to return it and hope for a better example too, especially before I bought another version.
Re: Titanium Tenacious
I guess I could try. I should have as soon as I felt too much resistance to turn the screw. Unfortunately the Torx head is now partially rounded out.
