Endura Tanto?

Post by SpyderEdgeForever »

Who here wants an Endura to be made with an American Tanto shape? Sal, would that ever be considered?

Not really into the Endura, but after sizing up the tanto Para 2 I think I'd be very interested in a tanto Military 2.

I like the blade shape of the Lum Tanto, but I don't think that one or the American Tanto will fit in the Endura handle. The edge would probably hit on the backspacer.

I think that would tide me over to the Endura. There's just something with the blade shape of the Endura and even the wharncliffe version that just doesn't appeal to me.

Cold Steel forums is on the left

Totally kidding.

I like a tanto but in a shorter model like Delica or Native. E4 is a big tanto. Let’s see a mock up and I might jump on

Don't know if a Tanto would be my first choice, but for me personally the Endura still is the best allround folder ever made and definitely deserves any variation that makes sense.

Also an American Tanto would offer a long, completely straight edge section starting from the heel and I guess I am perhaps a bit known for preferring just that over a continuous curve in the edge.
Top three going by pocket-time (update April 25):
- EDC: Endela SE (K390). Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10), Chaparral SE (CTS XHP)
- Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 2 SE (LC200N), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), Endela SE (K390)

Wartstein my friend you are so right. To me the Endura is the peak of Spyderco knives, though others are gladly welcomed to their views. A crate of assorted Enduras including a tanto version would be amazing.

I feel exactly the same, my friend.
If we´re talking a no nonsense, sturdy, but still slicey and light, do it all workhorse folder with great ergos and a lot of cutting edge, it does not get any better than the Endura for me personally.

I don't think it would work with the handle shape.

If a person has two or three Enduras and trades that to someone for a full sized serrated Military is the receiver of the Millie getting a good deal?

Imo the Endura owner would be completely crazy to do that, even more so if he traded his knives for the Millie 2 ;)

The Endura overall just is that good for me and superior even to the great linerlock Millie in several aspects.

Slightly different story if the traded Enduras were all in PE, but the Millie one gets for them in SE (as you say).
This at least would bring the benefit of "teeth".

Yeah that's a little bit of a lopsided deal. You should probably expect to pay/trade a little more for a SE Military just because they seem a little harder to find but I don't know if I'd trade 3 knife for one, I guess it really would depend on specifically what Enduras we're talking about. I would also recommend just waiting for the SE Military 2 if you're ok with the compression lock since it will be standard production and easier to get.

I would be interested. I collect Enduras actually and use them too. I'm after different grinds mostly, not the colors or steels. Tanto would be right up my alley.

Which of the Endura grinds do you find to be your favorite so far? The Saber Grind is mine.

When I'm at war with the cardboards the FFG is pretty good, but FFG SE may be even better.
For EDC I like the hollow grind saber just a bit better. For work I would take standard saber grind though.
Almost all of them are ok for everything. Some are just better for some specific tasks.
