Would be even cooler if they added a Hawkbill Dragonfly. A Tasman2, Spyderhawk and some Wharncliffes would be welcome too

I loathe BIG KNIVES! I never buy anything with a blade over 30 inches. I prefer small knives with blades under 16 inches.

The LeafJumper would have been nice to see in this line-up. Perhaps the future. Nice to see the larger Seki models get the "Cruwear" treatment nonetheless!

The police 4 LW k390 has been my favorite since release. Burgundy + new coating + new steel (for me) = home run!

I'm been unhappy with myself since I waited too long for DLT's Cruwear Endela, so I'm not going to make the mistake of passing on the Micromelt one. I like the OD green FRN that DLT used in their series better that this burgundy, but I'm going to make sure to grab one.

I'm going to add this only because it's such a critical point...
I’m glad you added all that to say exactly what I said: they’re basically indistinguishable. 😉

I also really liked this KnifeCenter pic (their pic of course) of all of these new PD#1 offerings in one shot:

I was speaking in generalities as this is a common sort of question comparing steels on the forum. Not so much aimed at answering the OP's post but reminding the general public of differences in steel being a very small factor. In the OP specific case, I'd say that are literally the exact same steel and the small differences are likely attributed to them coming from different producers. You cannot really argue that they are different with such a trivial difference in a couple of elements.

The point I was making which was NOT the same point as you were making was that anybody making strong claims to performance between similar looking steels are likely not actually observing the differences between the steels. This still remains true when comparing different classes of steels even, steels which bear little to almost no resemblance chemically. So yes, these steels are interchangeable/indistinguishable because they are quite literally the same composition.

Just as a great chef can make a feast out of a cup of ramen, and a novice Chef can ruin a piece of filet mignon.. it all depends on the treatment of the steel being used. ESEE uses Rowan Heat Treating because Rowan is the best at heat treating 1095. A great heat treat can bring out the best of a steel. Concentrate more on the treatment of the steel as opposed to the ingredients going in.. IMHO

What is everyone’s thought on the TiCN coating? I heard it was a lot less wear resistant than DCL and scratch with regular use.

Also I heard the scales were more purple than burgundy. When I first saw the release I almost thought they were black.

I am pretty excited for the steel though.

I have no comment on the TiCN coating. This will be my first exposure to it, funds available and willing.

Blade HQ published a video interview with Eric at Blade Show, and the scales are much more purple than burgundy. Could always be a discrepancy with the camera picking up colors, but even Eric called it a "purple and black" motif for this Sprint Run.

From KC’s recent IG reel. Surprised to see VG-10 and S30V on these if they are indeed dropping soon.

In one of the videos Eric mentioned the samples were S30V and VG-10. It was more about showing the colors as opposed to the steel.

Getting something besides H1/2 into some of the hawkbills would be sweet. I'm not a big Delica guy, but a Tasman2 in a more premium non-salt steel would be an instant buy

I get that. My comment more was that they didn’t have any PD#1 in these to bring to Blade Show, which makes me think that they’re maybe not going to be releasing as soon as Eric mentioned. I wonder which models will drop first…

What about Native5 in PD#1? Possible in a later sprint? 🤔 The Native5 seems better suited to tougher steels like PD#1 given its blade geometry and use case. Prior M4 sprints from BHQ sure were popular. I guess the seki models are in this first run as the toughness benefits their thin profiles, maybe? I do love the Endela, so something for the interim.

^ Or a CruCarta Native 5, since the Military/PM2 and Manix families have already gotten this treatment.

I didn’t handle one but the scales definitely leaned more purple in the display case than burgundy. I was a little surprised after seeing them in the reveal.

I hope the FRN color of the sprints is burgundy, as shown in the latest reveal. I want to jumpn in for a burgundy Endela Sprint. If the color is purple as shown with the reference pieces, I am not interested. The burgundy color looks great.

I have in on my M4 delica and it’s been stellar has yet to chip or scratch, can’t speak to other’s experiences though.

I do wish they would do a sprint of K390 models with it.
