Cruwear Lightweight Temperence
Re: Cruwear Lightweight Temperence
I’m in for a pair of the SE ones - these tick so many of my boxes for a work knife it’s uncanny.

Dear rasturn:
Welcome to the Spyderco Forum.
The Temperance is a concealed tang, full-flat grind, CPM CRU-WEAR. The Jumpmaster 2 is full-tang, Bi-Directional-Textured scales, hollow-ground H-1 or H-2.
Stay safe,
Mike

Ayoob Sprint Run, but it wasn't a fixed blade.Bob Janvier wrote: ↑Fri May 31, 2024 10:02 pmI'm on with the Spyderedge version. First CruWear with serrations I know about, unless I missed something...

Excited for this one also.
Plain edge would pair nicely with my jumpmaster 2.

Re: Cruwear Lightweight Temperence
Yeah, it was a great Sprint. There were a good amount of seconds too that had more of a wavy plain edge than a serrated edge. They still cut well though.
Re: Cruwear Lightweight Temperence
I'm extremely anxious to try this new TEMP 1 out with Cruwear. I do hope they make it available in SE & PE both. I still use my VG-10 version full SE TEMP 1 on occasion. The ergos on the original TEMP 1 handle are among the best that Spyderco ever created IMO.
I still hope that down the road they might consider a corrosion resistant SALT version of this great classic IN HOUSE design. Spyderco doesn't get enough credit for many of their great designs.
The TEMP 1 model would sell much better if they could somehow let people test drive them.

This one will be available in plain edge, serrated edge, and there will even be a trainer version.JD Spydo wrote: ↑Wed Jun 05, 2024 11:02 pmI'm extremely anxious to try this new TEMP 1 out with Cruwear. That is most interesting. I still have the red handled trainer from when I got my 2004 version of this great IN HOUSE classic.Mushroom wrote: ↑Thu Jun 06, 2024 10:00 amThis one will be available in plain edge, serrated edge, and there will even be a trainer version.JD Spydo wrote: ↑Wed Jun 05, 2024 11:02 pmI'm extremely anxious to try this new TEMP 1 out with Cruwear. Can't wait to get my hands on this bad boy. I'm going to scrape up a few nickels so I can get both variants. I still remember skinning my first deer back in 04 when I got my first one. It was truly like un-zipping it. And the serrated version really worked well in the meat processing as well.
Also a lot of collectors may have forgot that they also had a black bladed version of the TEMP 1 for a short while after it's initial release. It was extremely handsome with that black blade. A dream coming true literally.

The Jumpmaster 2 in H1 is very similar in shape and size.JD Spydo wrote: ↑Wed Jun 05, 2024 11:02 pmI'm extremely anxious to try this new TEMP 1 out with Cruwear. But your version of the Temperence in VG10 can easily go in salt water.
Of course, you can't just rinse it in the ocean and forget it in a boat for days or weeks like you could with H1 or LC200N, but as long as you rinse it with fresh water after use, VG10 won't rust just like that.

Re: Cruwear Lightweight Temperence
I`m very much looking forward to it. I`ll try and get the plain edge version. The lil´Temperance has quickly become my favourite Spyderco model and I`m very excited to try out the fixed version. Since it`s an MBC knife with a trainer I´m wondering if there is a style or technique that is recommended for it, or just follow the general styles? Either way it´s gonna be a kickass utility knife. I wonder if it will have the thumb groove on the back of the handle like the Temp 1.

If you're asking about the butt of the handle, yes it does. Looks to be the exact same molding for the handle as the original.Art_vandeley wrote: ↑Sat Jun 08, 2024 1:25 amI`m very much looking forward to it. I`ll try and get the plain edge version. ^ In this screencap from the BladeHQ Blade Show video, at the 8-minute mark there does indeed appear to be a thumb groove at the back of the handle.

Re: Cruwear Lightweight Temperence
I'll definitely be buying at least one of these as a serrated CruWear "mule."
I'm not a fixed blade person and don't have a need for one in my day to day activities. I've had it in my head lately though that serrations and CruWear probably go together better than Chinese food and chocolate pudding or peanut butter and ladies. This will be a great way to test it out.

Re: Cruwear Lightweight Temperence
This knife has been pretty interesting to me in the past, glad to see it return in some form, but being a sprint run means I won't have a chance at it. I really wish there was a regular production version of this knife. It seems to be pretty ideal design for it's particular size range.

There’s some miserably dull and awkward content that comes out of the various knife shows but Eric and David from Knife Center put out the most genuinely upbeat videos whenever they record together. This was a fun one — worth a watch.Bob Janvier wrote: ↑Mon Jun 10, 2024 12:21 amThe serrated version is shown on the Knife Center Blade Show 2024 video

Re: Cruwear Lightweight Temperence
Best style to use this blade with in a self defense role seems to be FMA/Eskrima/Kali (Filippino Martial Arts). I don´t know if Michael Janich his system also works with the knife. I liked it because you can use the dents in the handle for changing to heaven and earth grips. The thumb ledge is perfect for use in reverse grip.
