Killer Grizzly Survived / The Truth About Timothy Treadwell, the Grizzly Man Documentary

This is an excellent documentary; IMO, far better than the Grizzly Man documentary I saw some 20 or so years ago.

There is always a danger when anthropomorphizing ANY type of wild animal, period. I would never assume that any wild animal is my "friend."

Warning: Part of this documentary contains verbal descriptions of the aftermath of the fatal grizzly attacks on Treadwell and his girlfriend. And prior to this description, there is a caveat given in the video. There are no images, however, and the descriptions are not given for the sake of adding exploitative details, but are necessary to the explanations of predatory and scavenging behaviors in animals. Otherwise, I wouldn't have posted this here.

I'd never heard of rabies in seals, either. Although I've always thought that seals looked like sea dogs.

No thanks Jim!! I'll admit, I'm a little sissy boy when it comes to snakes...which my wife knows, so she proceeded to try and chase me around the yard at an airbnb we were visiting last summer with some kind of "garden snake" she called it. Some little green thing, but I was running away and yelling or "shrieking" as I hear her behind me laughing. Thank god I'm a faster runner than her!

You're not alone, Rick!

While I will say I'm not really squeamish of snakes, I do have a tendency to suspect that any snake is potentially dangerous, and I can't always identify which species aren't venomous.

One time, while doing some exercises in a sandy, almost "desert-y" portion of a park by a large bay, a medium-sized snake, with a pattern of alternating black and yellow rings around its body, slithered out of some bushes next to my gear bag, and quickly slithered across a dirt / sandy foot path. I closed up my bag and moved it, even though the snake had already crossed the foot path and had disappeared into some other bushes.

Another time while driving home by a recreational area near my home, I saw a huge rattlesnake moving along the edge of a large patch of pickleweed, near a biking and walking trail along a river by the beach. There's lots of rodents that live in that area, especially among the rocks of jetties in the area. That rattler must have found a great feeding spot, because it looked really big.

I'd have passed out or got really tense to where my muscles locked up...so basically already had been struck with venom even though it would just be me scared to death hahah!

When it comes to bugs and spiders though, that's my job to take care of unless our pup or cats get em first. BUT, I'm not allowed to kill, they have to be put outside. My wife loves all creatures, even the icky ones.

It's all good, we all have something that gives us the heebie-jeebies!

As for bugs in the house, I also try to catch and release spiders, if I can. Most other bugs that might get into a house, not so much. I even have a clean, empty, plastic peanut butter jar from decades ago, reserved specifically for catching spiders, that I keep in a convenient spot.
