New PM2 question

#1

Post by Joelc73 »

I bit the bullet and bought a PM2. I really like it a lot. It’s built like a tank!

One question: it’s a little stiff to open and close. Will it break in overtime or is it worth adding a drop of oil to the pivot? It’s not as ‘flicky’ as the videos I see online.

A little oil can’t hurt but if you have the tools I would loosen the pivot screw maybe 1/8th of a turn on both sides. Repeat until the action is smooth.

Just don’t loosen them so much there is noticeable side to side blade play.

Thanks. I cracked one side of the pivot a bit and it helped. I don’t have the Torx screw to get the clip off so I can’t get to the other side.

Does anyone know what size the clip torx are?

T6 on the clip. T8 on the scales to liners or body screws and T10 on the pivot.

The few times I've had an issue getting the pivot action where I want it without blade play on a PM2 I found the culprit is always the body screw nearest the pivot. Make sure to use a good quality T8 Torx bit, loosen it a bit, adjust the pivot until it is where you want the action, then add some blue loctight to the body screw and don't crank it in more than necessary.
