Tenacious R.I.L – Spyderco Design Production Sample 2024
This year’s meet did not just showcase new steels on existing designs, there were also a few nice surprises in handles and handle materials. This R.I.L Tenacious is a good example. The titanium handle was beautifully anodized. The handle featured a Reeve-style Integral Lock (hence the R.I.L.) that had a lock insert and an over-travel stop. Opening, unlocking and closing was very smooth on this sample. The blue handle seemed to change color a little bit, when held at different angles which I liked a lot. Combined with the black-oxide finished blade, this Tenacious will be a stylish, and functional, EDC option.

Tenacious R.I.L. – Spyderco Design Production Sample 2024
This unnamed Tenacious R.I.L. featured a satin finished D2 blade and an absolutely stunning handle design. The handle is titanium and has been beautifully anodized. The end result seems like Thor’s hammer crashed into this Tenacious and somehow it survived. An absolutely stunning looking folder. The Reeve Integral Lock on this sample featured a lock-face insert and an over-travel stop, and the operation was very smooth.

This reveal is determined to hit hard.
I've managed to avoid the Sage for the longest time, but it's becoming ever harder.
Thanks for all the great photos, Mr. Blonde!

Charisma – Spyderco Design Production Sample 2024
The Spyderco Charisma was a new design that seemed to want to fly out of my lightbox. This was an impressively thin and lightweight folder. The cutting edge however, is almost as long as the edge found on a Paramilitary 2. The Charisma is thin and light enough to easily carry in a shirt pocket. I did have to practice a bit to find the opening hole, but after a few cycles, opening and closing was very easy. The 3D handle design offered a bit extra grip. Again, and I can’t stress this enough, the Charisma was impressively light and thin. Despite its diminutive dimensions, I didn’t notice any noticeable flex when handling the Charisma.
This is the last of the Spyderco Production Samples I got to shoot and share with you. I’m working on videos of these knives, but they won’t feature any new knives, just more footage….
Approximate Specifications
Overall Length: 6.73 inch / 171 mm
Blade Length: 3 inch / 76 mm
Blade Thickness: 0.04 inch / 1 mm
Steel: CTS-BD1N
Weight: 0.8 oz / 23 g
Grind: Full-flat
Handle: FRN

Very cool!!
In some ways this is the Chaparral XL I have been wishing for on steroids (when it comes to thinness!! )
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):

-Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), and also Wayne Goddard PE (4V)

Re: Spyderco Amsterdam Meet 2024 Report
Is it just the photo/camera angle, or is the pivot on the D2 Tenacious (with the crazy anodizing) bigger than the pivot on the other Tenacious?
Re: Spyderco Amsterdam Meet 2024 Report
Some 15V, Rex121, and a charismatic cutter in my future.
Can’t wait for some of these!

Re: Spyderco Amsterdam Meet 2024 Report
I like the Charisma very much indeed.
This has the potential to be an absolute game changer in my opinion. Im under no illusion that it’s going to be more limited in its applications than most but it looks like a great idea, in theory at least…
My concerns are this though: The Z-cut I owned broke through the centre of the Spydiehole… cutting a potato on a plastic cutting board!
Although the stock is 0.2mm thicker on the Charisma, it’s hole is significantly bigger than the Z-cut. This area WILL be a point of weakness on this knife.
I honestly think Spyderco should do away the Spydiehole on this model, or at the very least make it smaller. It’ll likely save everyone involved the hassle.
Also, a milder concern is its locking interface: the tang / lock bar interface is only 1mm thick? Is that correct?
Again, I acknowledge it’s going to have a more limited array of applications than the majority of the line up but it still needs to withstand being used as a lock knife.
Has the Charisma been fully “field” tested yet?

The Tenacious R.I.L. it's just a bomb!
Re: Spyderco Amsterdam Meet 2024 Report
The Charisma with the thin blade, 3” blade length, light weight and slim & thin package is right up my alley. Nice!

Re: Spyderco Amsterdam Meet 2024 Report
Oh wow... That charisma... I might really get tempted by that one... There are other great knives here including the sage, but honestly I am kinda past all the sprints and same model in a different steel stuff. So yeah, the charisma looks very nice.
Re: Spyderco Amsterdam Meet 2024 Report
This would concern me im case of a liner- or comp.lock but I think it is by design not a problem with a backlock... even more so when considering what tasks one would realistically perform with such a thin, narrow, but comparably long blade...

Re: Spyderco Amsterdam Meet 2024 Report
Charisma and D2 Tenacious will be automatic buys for me, unless way overpriced. The Charisma could blow away offerings like the QuietCarry West and Tactile Bexar by giving customers a lower-cost alternative.
Re: Spyderco Amsterdam Meet 2024 Report
Excited to see a new design! Just based on initial impressions, I am a big fan of the the “Charisma”design! That blade stock bakes it look like an absolute lightsaber and it’s super lightweight too. Could be a really awesome candidate for hiking and backpacking.
It’s also really fun to see this thread about the initial Charisma patents come full circle too - Is this the patent for an existing model?

Re: Spyderco Amsterdam Meet 2024 Report
Looking at the prices of U.S. made folders with CTS-BD1N blade steel and FRN scales (Para3 & Native Chief) I’m guessing a street price of around $130-$140 for the Charisma.
