I like my Manix LW and Native 5 s110v. Mine are sharp and I already sharpened the Manix. I’ll report back after a year of use- I’ve roughed up a vg-10 and a 20cv knife so hopefully I learned my lessons to not abuse my s110v 😅

I really want a Millie (1) in Blurple :/
I really dislike cv20 but this is a tempting knife for myself.

I also suggest sharpening your s110v no higher than maybe 400 grit on diamonds/CBN. Its not built for fine edge holding, but make use of them carbide you pay for and it’ll hold that coarse edge for a long, long time. Like… dang near forever it seems like.

^^I think this is the way for S110V. You hear some bad about it on the interwebs, but coarse edge it seems fits S110V very very well.

400 is pretty darned coarse! I'm a little surprised to see the recommendation that low on the grit scale.

That depends on the abrasive. A good ceramic waterstone or diamond matrix stone will easily polish any steel.

I like toothy edges and s110v likes it to. I also do that to my s30v military.

You are absolutely correct. There’s many ways you can sharpen it. I just personally like lower grit diamond stones for steels like this.

I microconvexed my S110V Military the first time it went dull and now, three or four sharpenings later, I can say I didn't have any problem with it.. The same goes for my maxamet PM2 amd P3 and a few other ones.

I really like S110v and I think it's really cool that Spyderco keeps it as a regular offering. For my uses I basically view it as the top edge retention salt series steel. I haven't had any problems with it but I am however more conscious of what I'm doing when I'm using it. My S30v Native 5 has a more haphazard life than my S110v, though maybe I should try being more abusive for science. I think S110v really shines paired with the UKPK and it's one of Spyderco's most perfect knife offerings. The knife and steel go together like Chinese food and chocolate pudding.

The last 4 months or so I've really been enjoying going straight from a DMT coarse stone to a light strop with other steels. It hadn't occurred to me to put a dirty toothy edge on my S110v knives.. It wouldn't pop hairs off your arm but the working edge would have to last...forever. What a revelation, this is what those Amish kids who get sent off to experience the modern world before they decide to stay or not must feel like when theyre about to enter a strip club for the first time.
