Credit Card Fraud!

#1

Post by Naperville »

Watch out!!!

Either get a very good RFID secure wallet or leave your cards at home and only use them for emergencies. All that it takes is somebody bumping into you to take your money.

There's wallets and card holders with aluminum foil lining on the market. For card scanning protection

I rarely go anywhere to shop, almost 100% of my shopping is done online, including for groceries. It's a bad habit to have a wallet thick with credit cards, one that I have to break!

Caning and public hangings are good deterrents.

I have read that the encryption of mobile phones makes payment with cards in your digital wallet much less susceptible.

Maybe. Is the encryption and method of implementation open source so that experts can look at the app and judge its security?

I had a Samsung phone that quit receiving updates so I bought a new Samsung phone. I don't think phones are all that secure based on the security websites I read every day so I only have 2 apps on my phone for ordering pizza with and Uber. No banking apps, No Amazon, etc.

I do everything online on a desktop system that I try to keep up to date.

Hacking is prevalent across all industries. Read up...I do it every day.

Or do this. This account doesn’t exist, no charges will go through. And, I’ll be notified within seconds that a charge was attempted and declined. Problem solved.

What app is that and what cards does it work with?

Is it Capital One?

Yes, but I have to think in 2024 other cc companies have this, too.

I looked at The Hacker News link that I provided above and there were at least 6 cell phone hacking exploits, some Apple ios, some Android, in 18 days....so there may be 10 to 20 exploits per month for cell phones. Nobody is really safe, no matter the platform.

Alot of it is nonsense, trying to sell people something.

With the security it's not easy to hack into an IPHONE.

And to use or hack your CC in the phone, good luck with that.

YOU or I may not have anything to worry about being the target of a SIM Swap or the credit cards on our iPhone or Android cell phones taken. I don't get out much. Hackers target people and organizations. If I were Sal, Eric, or a few of the officers of a large corporation I really be worried. SIM Swap attacks are all the rage for people they know have money and power.

Still, the hack that was in the original post that hack works on anyone with a wallet and credit cards.
