I have Reynauds. Though not the same, when I'm working in the cold, back locks become very difficult as my hands stiffen up. Compression locks are a bit easier, but I prefer a Spyderco's Linerlocks with great access in those situations. Polestar and the Military are my two examples.

Thanks for the input. Compression locks seemed easier at first, but they can be tough also. Am in the process of trying a couple of R.I.L. models.JSumm wrote: ↑Tue Jan 09, 2024 10:45 amI have Reynauds. I am really hopeful the Manix springs work out because it meets all of my other criteria - handle fits my hand, jimping on top of blade as well as finger choil, easy open, fully lined backside, lots of aftermarket customization options, different steels to choose from, one hand close IF the spring is the right tension (or my hand works properly).

Re: Manix Modifications. What have you done? What do you want to do?
you can also try leaving the knife halfway open at night. leaving the spring compressed can help break it in a little. just put it somewhere safe with the blade open to the point where the spring is the most compressed. you can also cut a coil off of the spring to make it easier to disengage.kriezek wrote: ↑Tue Jan 09, 2024 10:58 amThanks for the input. I am planning on doing a blade swap and scale dye.
4V DLC blade from a recent SNK Manix LW (missed out on the G10 version) into dyed gray BHQ G10 scales

It will be more like a transparent charcoal, using the pearl grey Rit I have. But yeah.

Looks great. I’m assuming your G-10 scales are from a 52100 edition?
Re: Manix Modifications. What have you done? What do you want to do?
Correct! Never really jelled with 52100, but loved the grey/black color combo.IowaGeologist wrote: ↑Tue Jan 16, 2024 2:15 pmLooks great. I’m assuming your G-10 scales are from a 52100 edition?

Dang, I figured. Was really hoping for some secret way to source gray g10 scales. I’d like to get a second, nicer, set for this one as they’re getting some “character”. Black and gray is great, but I’m partial to satin and gray on these.TkoK83Spy wrote: ↑Tue Jan 16, 2024 2:30 pmCorrect! Mine were looking a bit grungey. I wiped them down prior to that photo above with some Magic Eraser, made quite a difference in cleaning them up. Worth a shot!

Re: Manix Modifications. What have you done? What do you want to do?
I'm still waiting on a DLC Manix G10 exclusive with an interesting steel, so I can pop some Rockscale Designs Titanium on that bad boy ( LWs don't work). I love the black grey look Rick.
Unless it is a Knife Joker Cruwear with dark green G10. I'll leave that as is.
May just go with the well known S30V with DLC. Sounds like a good Black Friday project later this year.

now that we have screws in the lw, i keep waiting to see some ti scales that are compatible. who doesn't want a magnacut blade in a ti handle?! probably a lot of people, but i want one pretty bad.JSumm wrote: ↑Tue Jan 16, 2024 8:37 pmI'm still waiting on a DLC Manix G10 exclusive with an interesting steel, so I can pop some Rockscale Designs Titanium on that bad boy ( LWs don't work). I think someone will do it eventually. I would guess AWT since the are doing the Native and Para 3 LWs. But maybe they still are not interested.

they completely ruined the manix handle in my opinion. i like the look of their native scales they made and hope they do a native chief lw scale though.

Thanks! I’ve looked at those before and thought about getting some, but wasn’t sure what the color would look like. Those look really good.
