Atlantic Salt, the old reliable work knife.

Happy new year, everyone!
For me it is the folder I´d probably choose if I could only keep one out of all I have and had so far:
Thin red line Endura.
Really brought me back to realizing how useful and versatile long comboedges can be!
Did not really appreciate that in my previous comboedge Endura, cause for whatever reason the VG10 regular blade shape Endura only comes in sabre grind if one wants a comboedge or full SE. For me much better in ffg, and that is what the thin line Endura offers.
Anyway: The "thin red/blue line" got discontinued, and I´d really recommend getting one (or more) of these three thin line models - Delica, Endela, Endura - as long as available!

Top three going by pocket-time (update April 25):
- EDC: Endela SE (K390). Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10), Chaparral SE (CTS XHP)
- Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 2 SE (LC200N), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), Endela SE (K390)

I’ve been carrying the latest version of the Tenacious.

You got me Gernot! Like you, the Endura is the model I'd pick if I could have only one and I don't own a single combo edge knife. The sale prices were just too good to resist and Deadwood Knives ships to Australia for $18.90. I just ordered a thin red line Endura. I hope I find it as useful as you do.Wartstein wrote: ↑Sun Dec 31, 2023 11:44 pmHappy new year, everyone!![]()

Oh man... I already feel the weight of responsibilty for recommending it heavily weighing on me...

But, honestly: I do hope and think you´´ll really like it and also the comboedge!
Some things you could check / see for yourself:
1.) There are quite some tasks where it does not make a ton of difference if one uses PE, SE or starts with SE and finishes with PE (= comboedge). Processing cardboard for example. In other words: CE (comboedge) is AT LEAST not a detriment there
2.) There are tasks where you might find it advantageous to initiate the cut with SE and its "points" will break the surface first, while PE finishes the cut
3.) The SE part of the thin line Endura is really long enough to be useful as "just" an SE "blade" - try making fine feathersticks with it, or just a notch into wood: It will work great with its steep chisel grind!
4.) In the for me (!) very few situations where I might prefer PE over SE: The PE part is also not too short, and so for example scraping or cutting food and NOT want the "SE steering": No prob to do that with the PE part (perhaps pinch grip the blade for that)
5.) When carrying the CE Endura as a general do it all EDC, you´ll have the reassuring feeling of having a "mighty matter separator" on you for emergencies - I am sure the SE part could rip through stuff like wire in a pinch, where PE would just glance off and be pretty much useless (of course SE would take damage, but still do the job).
Really, the thin line Endura is the only folder I am actually thinking about getting a backup for as long as they are still on the market! (To me it is also the closest I can get to the VG10, full SE, regular blade shape Endura 4)
