Hi Ramblinwreck,

Sorry for your disappointment. As mentioned, I'm guessing it was done in error and will be sorted.

LOL this thread would make a great study in how the internet works…heavy emotion, defense and offense (in both senses of the word)…

Sometimes it’s interesting to take a step out of the bubble and examine this type of stuff objectively. Being the adult dude who has to call customer service about an issue with his $400 mystery box. It’s just cosmically FUNNY…sorry…I know people take this stuff seriously (so do I) but that doesn’t mean it’s immune from examination. So much pathos…

I can't even open the OP's picture...

What were the knives?

I mean, I'm just curious. It seems like the consensus was there was a fup.

Mystery boxes are not inherently a scam, but they can be risky.

Some mystery boxes may not deliver the value or quality of items promised, leading to disappointment for the buyer.

Always consider the potential risks before deciding to buy a mystery box.

Companies use "mystery boxes" to get rid of their slow moving merchandise.

Some you win and some you lose !!

I understand that. That isn’t the issue here. I was clearly sent a $250 box instead of a $400 box. There were two different boxes.

It looks like a G10 Military, Tenacious lightweight, Heinnie Haynes Urban, and a PM3 lightweight.

I called customer service and they are in the process of exchanging my box for a premium box. All good so far.

Glad to see you’ve modified this thread’s title to lower the temperature for later visitors.

Sullying Spyderco’s earned reputation for bending over backwards to make things right, BEFORE they’ve had a chance to do so, will get a bad response from all who know better. Ask early adopters of the Siren to get an understanding of the reaction, for example.

Enjoy your new knives.

Yes, you should contact their customer service. They always make good on stuff like that, it's not in their interest to rip off people, I'm sure they'll be able to sort that out with you.

Sorry you got such an unpleasant surprise when opening the box though
Man, what a letdown. I’m sure they will make it right. It’s an obvious mistake.
Also, it's a good rule of thumb to contact whoever you have the issue(whether in life or a transaction relationship) with instead of posting on the internet about it first.
Excuse me, I have every right to post my disappointment online. Don’t worry about it.
This could have all been taken care of between you and spyderco with a phone call instead of needing validation from the internet.

On the good side you will get your $400 mystery box.

On the bad side I didn't.

Happy it all worked out.

Hi Ramblinwreck,

Thanx for the update. I communicated with staff on this issue and they said it must have been a error and they'd jump on the solution.

Spyderco keeping it classy, as normal for them. 👍
I had a similar issue years ago with Knifeworks. I had preordered two special CTS-204P PM2’s, and only received one. I contacted them and they made it right by sending the other one. No drama, just good customer service. I’ve bought a lot more from them due in large part to this experience.

Nice deflection... I do hope you use the same fervor and post about the correct box that is sent. Have a good day man.
