Help: Chaparral Clip Screw Location

#1

Post by Johncjeff »

I have a set of custom scales for a Chaparral. A while back I sold the knife and kept the scales. I recently purchased a new Chap, and when I tried to install the custom scales they no longer fit. At some point the pocket clip screw location was moved closer to the center of the clip grooves. Does anyone know when the change occurred? I’m searching for an older version of the chap, and the manufacture date would help narrow things down. Thanks

I think this was a rolling change in the past few years.

My CF Chap with old clip screw placement (closer to the end of handle) has a April 2020 date code.

My FRN model has the new clip screw placement and date code September 2021.

Hope that helps.

That’s a huge help. Thank you

Hey there, I recently came across this issue myself as well. Definitely a bit frustrating after you’ve opened the knife up! :)

It sure is. Got lucky last night and found a Chap with a “DQ” manufacture date at Sooner State Knives. Sent out all kinds of emails to different stores to see what they had in their inventory. Every other store that replied only had the newer versions. Surely that’s early enough to do the trick
