I'm not gonna lie or sugar coat it, I'm disappointed with my $400 mystery box... I received:

Delica 4 in s30v $58
Endura 4 in M4 DLC $84
PM2 in CTS 204P $119
MURRAY CARTER ITAMAE NAKIRI BURL/BLACK G-10 7.28″ FULL-FLAT SUPER BLUE/SUS410 KITCHEN KNIFE $130

I wasn't really looking for any of these and I'll probably lose money if/when I sell them.

Not too bad of a box if you "best" knife was not a kitchen knife. If that kitchen knife was a Military, Shaman, Manix XL, etc. then it would have been pretty solid. For the most part I don't think many people would be looking for or overly happy with a kitchen knife in the box. But it is the chance of the mystery box.

Does anyone know how seconds are priced? As an example, the Maxamet Manix 2nd was around $79 with a MSRP $360, making it a huge 78% discount. But above the Endura 4 M4 2nd was $84 with a MSRP of $175, making it only a 52% discount (MAP is already a 30% discount). In person he 15V Shamans were $105 so its not a spirt vs non spirt thing. If that Endura 4 had the same 78% discount as the Manix then it would have been $38.50 not $84.

For the experts who have gone in person and seen all the prices is there any logic behind the prices or it is just what it is?

Yeah, that would be a huge disappointment. 2 FRN knives, a PM2, and a kitchen knife? That’s about as “meh” as it comes, and would be ugly for a $250 box IMO.

Not mine but someone posted their $250 box. The Manix XL is Cruwear. Might not be amazing but seems pretty solid to me.

I'm late to the party, but is the point of buying a mystery box, to resell it? Is that the primary reason they're bought?

I'm so picky about knives I can't imagine forking over $400 for unknown knives to add to my collection.

ETA comes in tomorrow. Maybe a CF Subvert as a premium box. Let's not mix up the two mystery boxes offering $250 and $400. The $250 mystery box could most likely contain sprint runs. The $400 mystery box could contain premium releases. Paysan, CF Subvert, CF Spyopera, Drunken, and etc.

From what I remember from a previous online seconds sales had Stovepipe's for $250, damasteel Urban $165, PITS $125/150. I'm not sure if these fall into the $400 or $250 mystery boxes. I'm sure the Spyderco folks that packed them are smiling at our guesses. All in on the fun.

Given what we’re seeing here and other platforms, you might be overly optimistic on what you think you should receive.

I figured I would get 1-2 that I would like to keep, and gift/sell the others. I was hoping for PM2/PM3/Manix2/ Manix 2 XL/Shaman in high edge retention metals. I wasn't expecting a rare model, but that would have been really nice. I didn't think a kitchen knife was a possibility to be honest, this is my first (and last) mystery box.

Exactly... I've seen a lot better $250 boxes.. $418 for that was a huge letdown

For me it is access to knives (seconds) since I can't go in person or as a first run they are hard to get and/or cost prohibitive. Missed the PM2 15v drop, $280 is too much for a Shaman M4... the mystery box is then the only answer.

I do agree $400 seemed a bit crazy, the $250 one I got was also a lot but with the way the $250 boxes went on the last sale I felt reasonably comfortable there would be something good value in there, a lot of people were getting 15V Shamans, 4V Military and/or Cruware Yojimbos. If I get something I don't want then I will look to resell. Just hoping I don't end up with a kitchen knife, fixed blade and a byrd.

I also agree with Rinzler, the $400 boxes we have seen so far seem less than ideal.

The value, and surprise! It's like Santa came to visit early! Everything in my box was new to me. I would've even bought those for myself if they were available in the sale. $100 for a Caribbean, $100 for the PM2 Tanto, $150 for the Province. I also would've dropped $130 for that Itamae too. Sweet knife, if you cook. I do, and use my kitchen knives more than any others.

That Itamae is a great knife for anyone who cooks. It would make a fine Christmas gift.

I prefer shopping for bargains at online retailers and even the secondary market. Not big on surprises, I guess.

I hope most Mystery Box gamblers end up happy!
