Is this “special events” website a third-party web hosting service?

If it is, will there be any price increases to help Spyderco offset the cost of using a third-party web hosting service? (I think there should be ;)) Or will the prices be the same as they are at the traditional in person sale?

Will there be any inventory of certain models that is depleted through this online sale, making them unavailable during the next OPFocus Seconds Sale in the spring or Traditional Seconds Sale next November?

Will the selection of inventory be comparable to the past online seconds sales?

I guess we'll have to wait and see what happens
:grin-squint Just trying to figure out how much more of my money Spyderco plans on taking from me.

But seriously, there were some models I skipped on this year at the traditional seconds sale with the hope of fitting it into my seconds budget next year. If that inventory is going to be sold out through this online version of the sale, I’ll have to make a very calculated decision on whether or not I should pull the trigger now or wait until next year.

Ideally, they would only list a set amount of any certain model, so as to ensure there could still be inventory available for all versions of the sale. (OpFocus, Traditional, and online.)

Any information about the Mystery Boxes, cost, contents, etc?

They put out great information about them last time.
You've already asked yesterday... be patient and please try not to blow this thread up like you have the other seconds sales threads. Boy, did I call it already or what!
Just hoping for some information, not that it helped much last sale. I am just fairly sure there will not be a whole lot of time to shop around and see what is what when the sale starts.
If the host website handles the traffic without issue, I think you may be spot on with that estimate. The frustration about the website not working after the last sale will evolve into frustration about the inventory being purchased too quickly during this sale. Only one way to find out, I guess. :bug-white-red

@Mushroom I'm sure it's a tough call whether to buy now or wait but I'd buy sooner rather than later if you can afford it

I have absolutely no business going to look at any of these knives on the website tomorrow given the hurt I did on my wallet just a few weeks ago. With that being said… Coincidentally, I happen to have a vacation day tomorrow. It’s like they knew…please god don’t let there be memorabilia for sale. :grin-sweat

I'm excited for this! To complainers- even with an improved website, you aren't guaranteed to get what you want because of supply and demand. If that causes great mental anguish, maybe sit this one out.

Exactly! :grimace Thats another thing I was really hoping they would reserve for the traditional in person sale!

I'm not totally sure how good Shopify is for such surge traffic but they probably would do better than any self hosted solution. I swear I don't work for these guys this is not a self promotion thing. There are online services specifically designed around short high traffic situations.

Thanks for bringing that up. I always us VPN and never thought about it interfering with a potential purchase. Most of my transactions go off without a hitch, but every so often the VPN poses a problem.

Hello all, new member, first post, lifelong sharp edged tools enthusiast…My question is, are the factory seconds marked as such and how are the marked? I assume like other manufacturers they do mark them but I am curious as to how they are marked. Thanks everyone and best of luck to all that will be on the hunt for a new blade this Friday and thanks to Spyderco for the exciting sale!
Like yablanowitz and Mike said they’re marked like this, whether a plain steel blade, or coated:

Glad I don’t need my account for tomorrow because all I get on it is:
We could not verify your information or something in your information has been found to be associated with fraud. Please try again. If you are using a VPN, try turning it off to try again or contact us. (8002
When I try to check out. I’ve reached out but no reply. I remember seeing all the comments of this on past sales, I’m glad it does not apply this time!

I prefer credit cards for online purchases, but in the July seconds sale, had to use debit to make a purchase. Will this again be the case for this upcoming seconds sale?

What? Why? What's the difference? I'm pretty sure I used a CC for the last online sale

My credit card has never worked on Spyderco.com either. I like using the virtual cards linked to my CC. I like them even more now that they work with my Chrome browser.

My son sent me a link from Spyderco showing an employee putting a Paysan in a mystery box. Really, hype it up!
