In some states, they're just illegal to carry. You can dismember yourself to your hears content in your own home. Just don't take it outside.
Of course...that kind of ruins the fun doesn't it. :D
On a different note, does anyone know if Spyderco plans on introducing a Spyderfly trainer? I would love to get a butterfly, purely for the fun of "doing the dance" but theres no way in H*** I'm going to practice with a live blade.
Anybody know?

Sure....Can even throw it 10 feet in the air and catch it....make the throw handle first or pivot first...tip up...tip down doesn't matter...can throw it over my shoulder as well...plus I'm a little faster than asian girl...I can thrust at you and by the time it reaches your body the balisong will be closed...(lucky you) and vice a versa (not so lucky you)....Doc :D

Yet another wonderful use for Duct Tape. :D Might do this, after I figure out if its even legal for me to own. I'm not sure if Maryland is one of those "relatively" knife friendly states that allows possession, but not carry, of a butterfly.skcusloa wrote:SMCFALLS:
I think you can rap tape around the blade for safety, but I haven't tried it and I've never messed with a balisong at all...
Maryland Statute doesn't specify butterflies, or gravity knives, but the case law may be a different story entirely. :o

Ahhhh...I forgot to mention I can do all this with Balisongs in each hand, as well as spin one in reverse grip while doing something totally different in the way of opening or closing with the other in sabre grip at the same time (trying hard not to be boastful)...Wish I did own a cam, you'd be amazed at what one can do with a Balisong or even two...I've been handling and practicing with Balisongs in all different sizes and shapes since 1975...and I even teach the Balisong in my Filipino Stick and Dagger Fighting Classes...Doc :Dseveredthumbs wrote:we would need some kind of proof of this.

1. No I cannot do it with my Spyderco's, but I can with my Benchmade's. :)
2. Just to inform you, that girl, is "butterflykisses" from BladeForums, and She, and some of the members in the Balisong Forum, took offence to that video being posted with that tile, and some of the writing that was around it or something thereof.
This is not BFC, so take this as you will, just informing, so as to hopefully prevent any wrongdoing/discrimmination/conflict or what have you.
