BenchMade Bailout Shot Show '23 Edition

Post by MacLaren »

Just picked this little fella up from the Post Office.
If ya like "slicy dicey"then you'll like the Bailout.
She has a 3.5" cpm-3v blade wich is only .90" thick.
What's really nice is she only weighs 2.7oz
The blade is decently sharp as well as the centering of the blade. I think the scales are aluminum. The color in the pics appear a little brighter than they are in person. In person she's more of a burnt orange.
So far, I really like it!
I think these sell for $292 but, this was on sale for Black Friday at $199 and I also had $50 Knives Ship Free Store money. So, I got her for $149
Which, honestly I feel is a really good deal.
$292 imo, is way to much for this but, I can see it bringing at least $225-$250 - the 3v blade w/those really nice grinds make it really nice imo.

I like it. I like the acuteness of the tanto tip, the blade steel and the color combo.

I have a COUPLE[edited] of cold steel fixed blade tantos and I bought them for their 3v steel and acuteness of tip.

Just don't pry anything and you're good.

Welp, she sharpened up really nice.
I started her out at 400 grit then went thru 800 grit then finished with a ceramic stone and leather strop.....very sharp indeed. & that should do for a pretty good while, especially considering I've got a SharpMaker for touchups. A good sharpening system and SharpMaker - your really in business then imo...
This is a really neat knife with that 3v steel

Thanks Dan.
Try to catch it on sale. $292 is just way to steep imo.
But, it slices like a sonovagun too!

We had a huge dealer in Kentucky that became friends with over the years . He spoiled us terribly with great BM deals at local shows . I look out for a yearly BM some new or old stock . Dan

Nice!!
Then yeah man, give this one some serious consideration. I'll swear, it's really neat. Light as a feather and thin. Not just the blade stock either - just an all-round lightweight, thin knife.
& 3v is what pushed me over.
Dan, if I'm not mistaken, after I sharpened it, I believe I measured her at .15 behind the edge
Which is very good imo. She's basically the same size as my Caly 3.5 but, just a better slicer.
And that Axis Lock - I had forgotten just how dang nice it is.
