Native Chief LW
Native Chief LW
I see these are trickling in and was hoping to hear some folks talking them up by now? Really hoping to see comparison pics with the Endura, Stretch 2 XL and Police 4 LW. Looking forward to the early buzz.

Re: Native Chief LW
I forgot that I had pre-ordered one (the Spy27 one) on Blade HQ! When I get it I'll report back.
Re: Native Chief LW
Also interested in usage reports of LW Nat Chiefs, so watching this thread in anticipation.

Re: Native Chief LW
Once the DLC version comes out I'll be putting a bd1n version to work.
Re: Native Chief LW
Guess it's time to check out the reveal, lol. between this and the crucrta XL this is sounding like my kind of reveal!
Re: Native Chief LW
Man, I predict this will cost you quite some bucks...
Curious what you´ll like most: Stretch XL Salt (in H2!)? Chief Salt? DLC Bodacious? Perhaps even the Catcherman.. ? Or is it indeed the Crucarta XL?
Top three going by pocket-time (update March 24):

Re: Native Chief LW
It’s been a great reveal this time - Magnacut city!!
The Chief LW salt in Magnacut looks like a it’d make brilliant low maintenance work knife, but I don’t think anyone would feel short-changed with the soon to be released Spy27 version - I’ve only been using this steel on a native 5 for a week and Im blown away by just how easy it is to strop a “sticky-sharp” edge back on it.
I have a feeling that once the Magnacut hysteria has died down slightly, Spy27 will gain a following amongst edge enthusiasts.

Re: Native Chief LW

With this reveal, it's like someone at Spyderco said, you know who has too much money? Vivi.

Re: Native Chief LW
As you will have seen by now;
They did...
I was aware of the (previous...) existence of the Catcherman, but not of its probably best weight to blade length ratio ever... crazy! (2.8 oz / 4.64 in)

Re: Native Chief LW
indeed! and 1.8mm blade stock!
I feel bad for this bd1n chief. those salts kind of stole its thunder. If they come out soon and there's still no eta on the salt versions I'll probably still grab one, but I'd imagine a few folks will skip this release in favor of magnacut or lc200n.

Re: Native Chief LW
I definitely want one of the Magnacut Chiefs. Going to dye it green and slap a lynch clip on it.
I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.
Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.

Re: Native Chief LW
Well... I do like it!
Actually the corrosion resistance (and at least in SE also the edge retention) of the BD1N variant is more than sufficient for me personally... but both LC and MC offer, as far as I know, a lot better toughness which could be a bonus (presumably more durable teeth and the option to go lower concerning edge angle - ?)
High viz color usually is a plus too for me...
Almost glad that it probably will be a while till these will drop, since after a recent purge I REALLY want to try to only stick to and use the Spydies ("only" 12 or 13 anymore I guess) I still have right now
Well... THIS amazing Reveal eventually WILL end that project of contentment with 100% certainty anyway...

Re: Native Chief LW
same plan here as far as the color goes. I have a nice dark green rit ready to go - same color I've used on pacific salts.kennethsime wrote: ↑Thu Oct 19, 2023 10:18 pmI definitely want one of the Magnacut Chiefs. Going to dye it green and slap a lynch clip on it.

Re: Native Chief LW
The Chief Salt in MC is my number 1 knife from this excellent reveal, although I'll have to have one of the PM2 Salts and maybe a manix salt as well. I have the peacock green and cherry red Rit ready, but not sure which one I'll use, maybe a double fade with both.
While I like ~3" knives for EDC and office carry, I've really decided I like my Salts to be larger. I wind up carrying them while fishing, hunting, taking the boat out, all the kinds of activities where a bit more blade can be nice, and a knife that can be abused a bit, or left covered in blood or gunk for a little while is handy. The Chief is already a preferred design of mine, but with the salt treatment and Magnacut blade, this thing is going to be an epic all around outdoors knife.
