Spydercos, pivot?

What is the purpose of an adjustment screw on each side of the pivot? Other makers use one. I've had difficulty adjusting some at times.

Easier to keep the blade centered? IDK

Spyderco uses one on a lot of their models too

Is there a correlation between the stepped pivot (like in the PM2) and the two screws?

The stepped and bushing pivots have two screws. The D-shaped pivots have one screw. The other (fixed) side has looks like a screw head but is actually part of the pivot

A D-reliant pivot works so long as the D-shaped hole in the handle, especially of unlined models, does not distort from overtightening (like it did on my Maniago-made K390 Urban). Distortion leads to a spinning pivot such that side-to-side blade-play cannot be zeroed.

Screws on each side of the pivot can be worked against each other so the pivot does not spin. The blade can be made not to move by overtightening; blade-centering can be tricky.

A pivot bushing prevents overtightening and spinning, and makes centering almost automatic. But, the pivot screws had better be just right or sideplay cannot be adjusted out. Such was the aggravation I had with my Canis until W&R sent me a new set of screws.
